I find this post from you surprising, Lizacreates. Honestly. There is a reason that there are conservatives and liberals. You are a liberal so those things seem wonderful to you. I am a conservative and I find the path to realization to many of these Utopian ideas to be absolutely frightening. Paths that include taking away Constitutional rights. I guess I didn't expect snark from you. Exactly which parts of the constitution has Trump upheld? Seriously, I’m genuinely asking? He has trashed or ignored more parts of the constitution than any other president in my lifetime. Actual parts written in the constitution not interpretations. And HE makes you feel the constitution is safe? I don’t get it. Honestly I don’t. So please explain how this administration, the Trump administration, doesn’t scare you about your constitutional rights. Start with the emoluments clause and go from there.... Exactly. Anyone ignoring that is a moron. EDITING HERE— I won’t erase my comment (because it was quoted below several times) but I will clarify. I should have been more clear. I was responding to hop2 comment where she was specifically referring to trump and his administration and all their asshattery. THAT IS WHO I WAS REFERRING TO AS MORONS. . I was not meaning that republicans peas were morons. My apologies for not being crystal clear.

I have to agree with Hop here. To say the Trump administration is wiping their behinds with the Constitution would be understating it. And at the current & long term expense of the average American. In my opinion, the only thing that keeps us from officially being a fascist government at this point in time is our Congress because the Senate and the Judiciary seem to be operating at Trump's pleasure.

Exactly. Anyone ignoring that is a moron. That isn’t helpful and proves Snowsilver’s point in one sentence. Bingo. Papercrafteradvocate, not that it matters to you, but I've had your account on ignore for probably 2 years (maybe longer) because of replies like this. I believe we have the same preferences as to where our country goes, but calling people names and being unnecessarily rude just isn't helpful at all.

Exactly. Anyone ignoring that is a moron. That isn’t helpful and proves Snowsilver’s point in one sentence. Word. We need to stop with the name calling. It irritates people who are not being picked on (me), and it angers, upsets, and makes the person being picked on leave. And we need to hear their voices if we’re going to understand where they’re coming from.

Yeah, well some of us are angry at the stupidity of the American people and are not going to sit back and let hypocrisy go unchecked.

You all truly wish to beat trump. Find a strong republican woman who was not influenced by him and his cronies and have her from from New York. Convince Eileen Collins to run against him. I have been saying for a couple of years now. You google her and be impressed.
Why are republicans going to be the saving grace? They are the ones who got us into and continue this nightmare.

We have one conservative voter (from what I can tell) who has been willing to honestly answer questions about what is important to her but stays away from political discussions because of name calling. I'd love for her to hang in there and share with us where she's coming from, but she's not going to when being referred to as a moron.

While I tend to agree, how many times has someone here said they wish that some of the conservatives would respond to some of the things we are concerned about. So, Snowsilver does, and is met with a couple of snarky, bitchy messages, which just reinforces why conservatives do not respond.
I appreciate Snowsilver starting this discussion. She is one who I feel like always states her opinions respectfully, even if I don't agree with those opinions. Not all of the conservatives who have left here had/have her style. It must have been hard to start this discussion, knowing how some people would respond. I do wish she would have kept the conversation going here, but I can understand why she didn't.

Exactly. Anyone ignoring that is a moron. That isn’t helpful and proves Snowsilver’s point in one sentence. I guess I should have been clearer— I was responding to the comments hop2 was making, where she was speaking specifically about trump and his administration. That is whom I was referring to—not a republican peas are moron thing. I will edit and make a note.

I think some of you are missing the point of OP’s theory. OP is not saying a Republican will beat Trump. What she’s saying is have a Republican run as an Independent so the Republican vote splits. Do you think it means anything that Trump only got 84%-ish of the NH Republican primary? I would like to believe it means that there are a lot of Republicans who cannot stomach voting for Trump again.

I also very much agree with this. I’m baffled as to why anyone would support trump—especially for the reasons hop2 had (trashing the Constitution...)

Because she is a good choice for the entire ( well almost) party to get behind. And she will get the votes of those swing voters who will not vote because of Bernie or Elizabeth

I do not understand the reasoning of I can't stand Trump, and I will not vote for him, so I'm going to not vote/vote third party/write in a name. Sorry, but by doing any of those things, you are helping to ensure that Trump will indeed be elected again. How will you feel then?
I have voted for a Democrat for president twice since I turned 18 in 1981. And I can honestly say that no matter who the D candidate is this time, I will be voting for him or her.
Can you imagine the shit Trump will pull when he knows he is not up for reelection??? It's quite terrifying to think about.
although what the Dem/Rep vote split (for me) may vary. I do not understand much of the reasoning behind feelings for trump. Like the 'I don't like him but voted for him and/or stand with him for some of what he has done.' Even if that were true for me I couldn't trust it as anything he does deemed "positive" is subject to do a 360 at his whim if no longer advantageous to or harms him personally, IMO. He's all.about.himself. Everything he does or says "positive" is subject to change to suit himself. Period. I have no trust in it. He's dangerous that way. Hell everything he does positive or negative (there's a lot of that) is to to suit himself. Not you or me. We just get the residue.

I was specifically referring to the administration/trump. As of late, I’ve kept “name calling” comments directed at them.

I’ll never vote for any Republican in the party of Trump (which it will be, long after he’s gone.) I’ve said this before: it’s not our job to offer up a Republican or Republican lite because the GOP has destroyed itself. Let them sort out their own mess. I’m going to keep my head down, advocate for my positions and candidates, and vote blue, no matter who. No one in the GOP can be trusted.

Except there is no way any Republican could beat trump. Many states have cancelled their GOP primaries, and it is too late to get on the ballot in others. The ONLY way to beat him is to vote Democrat.

They had a chance to do the right thing, and they made a conscious choice NOT to. They have all shown that they are more willing to lick Trump’s boots than to do what’s right for the American people. I’m another that will be voting blue and only blue until I turn blue.
