I know some love Kraft Mac & Cheese and others hate it, but it was always my favorite dinner growing upš I recently read an article that Kraft is now selling just the powdered cheese in sprinkle cans in select area Costco and BJ stores. None in SoCal though. Has anyone tried it? I was going to order some as Easter gifts for my DDs, but the price is over $20 a can on Amazon! I found 3 cans on EBay for $24, but they expired last month. Any ideas on where else to look, or if it's as great as it sounds? Elaine

I don't know about Kraft powdered cheese but I've seen a powdered cheese in the bulk bins at my local Winco store. I haven't tried it (I'm not a big blue box fan) but it looks like the Kraft stuff.

I haven't heard about them selling the cheese powder separately, but that blue box crap mac and KFC Chicken Littles were my hangover cures in my 20's (1980's). I'm curious, what would you use the cheese powder on other than noodles?

We liked the idea of having the powder so that you could make whatever shape/type of noodles you have available into mac&cheese. š

McCormick makes a white cheddar in a spice container that Costco used to carry, it was DELICIOUS!!! We put that on EVERYTHING! Popcorn, noodles, toast, garlic bread. It was yummy. Then they quit carrying it,

They sold it several years ago. I bought it and put it on popcorn. Itās exactly what it sounds like, the powder from the packets just packaged into a shaker can. I love that stuff.

It was marketed here a few years ago...very hard to get the proper proportions and it didnāt taste great. Had to be a test market because it was only available one summer here in SW Pennsylvania

I used to buy that can at Meijer. We were sad when we couldnāt find it anymore. My kids love to put it on popcorn. Theyāve been opening up boxes of Mac n Cheese and taking out the packet and leaving just the noodles. Ugh

We love Penzeys Garden Salad seasoning for everything you listed.

The stuff in the can has come and gone over the years. Theyāll discontinue it, then it seems to come back a few years later.
But they changed the taste of the blue box stuff a few years ago, definitely for the worse. I read that the change was due to somehow making it healthier. But Iām not sure if it was the pasta or the cheese that changed.

They have the Kraft M&C powder at my Costco (Northern VA). We tried it on pasta & liked it well enough. Makes everything taste just like the blue box stuff - we bought it as kind of a novelty and also because several of us (OK, me & DD) like our M&C extra cheesy on the rare occasions when we actually make & eat a blue box of Kraft. So we add extra to our servings of it. Would also like to try it on broccoli, popcorn, & several other things.

To make ours extra cheesy, we add 2 slices of american cheese to the pot when we add the powder, milk, and butter.

I would have starved as a child if it hadnāt been for Kraft Mac n cheese . I still like to make it for lunch occasionally. Back to the topic - I havenāt heard of it being sold but back in the day my Mom did not use all the cheddar mix and would offer it to us instead of Parmesan cheese when we had spaghetti. I did not like that then so I am sure I wouldnāt be the target audience for the powder now.

I havenāt seen it in my area yet.
But that reminds me of when I was a kid and there was a grated shake orange/American cheese that I loved to put on broccoli and cauliflower. I was so sad when they discontinued it. I think it was made by Borden.
Cabot has a great cheddar shake cheese that we like on popcorn...but it is not the Kraft orange stuff. ā¹ļøš
Good luck on you quest to find it.

Its at our costco up here in Canada. Because of course it is. It would make sense that, as the highest per capita consumers of KD, we would be all over this. (FTR, I see it at the local Bulk Barn).

Iāll be the lone dissenter. I think that blue box powdered mac n cheese is vile and even my kid wonāt eat it. She is strictly a Velveeta shells and cheese girl and honestly I canāt blame her. We get the little microwave cups of it because it was easy to throw in a tote and take to the cabin and it was something sheād eat.
Once we ran out and happened to be at Costco without our kid and DH put a case of the Kraft kind in the cart. I looked at him 𤨠and said, āPrepare to eat ALL of that, because I can tell you right now DD wonāt eat it.ā He pooh-poohed me saying, yeah, she would. That night he went to make her some to prove his point. I said nothing. She took one look at it and was all like, āNope. Not eating it.ā LOL. Another one of those infamous āI told you soā moments! I think we ended up donating most of it to the food shelf because nobody here would eat it.

I used to buy the Kraft Mac & Cheese cheese years ago and was so sad when they discontinued it. I now buy the same one as Lexica. I will look for the Kraft brand at my local Costco, but to be honest, I really like the one I get from Amazon, and the price is decent.
