Ready for some more mixed media? I've been having fun trying to stretch what I usually do to try something new. Today we are going to make backgrounds using sprays, powders and all those other fun liquids! I don't know if there is an official name for this technique, but I call it the packaging technique which you use packing from all those embellishments to make the liquids on your page make unique designs. Here's my background as an example. It didn't turn out quite like I had anticipated, but in the end I think I'm happy with it. I sprayed some of my mists, added some water and then used an empty package to spread it out, mix different colors and create this background. Use an acrylic stamp base, paintbrush.let it run over the page or another creative method for a completely different look! Make it as big or small as you'd like. before by Boy Mom, on Flickr Here is my final layout: After by Boy Mom, on Flickr For the Twist, I'm actually going to have two- 1 point for every different color you use and an additional point for using a second mixed media technique on your page! Have fun creating! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Great challenge boymom5! Love your page. Thanks for the inspiration! I have been trying to find a colour I like to use on a page I have in mind. Somehow the fortune's worth of sprays in my basement (I keep them down there so I can do the messy work on top of the chest freezer) had completely slipped my mind. Dylusions crushed grape... a little plastic... I like it! Now just have to wait for it to dry...

I am hosting Card Club tonight so I'm headed to Michaels and Hobby Lobby for a few extra supplies for those who don't own them. I think I will look for something I can use for this challenge. I only have a few colors of sprays so I need to look into getting a color to go with what I have. Thanks, boymom5, for the challenge.

Be sure to count points for Challenge #25 for Let's Get Together for your card club hours, nylene. Participants don't need to be Peas for that one.

Not the whole background, but I went to town with Oxide inks and sprays to create the colour I wanted on a sheet of glossy pp, then cut it up for some of the diamonds on this page. So i think I got the main challenge + the twist... bonding over hair by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Well this was a fun challenge! I even went back to traditional scrapping for this one. I used some glimmer mist in purple and blue, sprayed it on some cardstock then scanned it. A few months ago I finally got rid of a ton of old scrapping supplies that I haven't used for about 9 years. The only thing I kept was the glimmer mist, some Prima flowers and 15 little jars of Opal embossing powders. I wanted to use the embossing powders for this challenge too, but I didn't have any embossing ink. And I wanted to use gesso but I got rid of that too. The rest of the LO is digital. I used a gesso style by NBK Designs, and a gold glitter style. I also made some digital epoxy tiles using the piece of glimmer mist cardstock, I hope to be able to use them on another layout this month. Thanks for a fun challenge!

I ended up covering up most of my background, but there's a bit peeking through. I used blue, purple, and yellow Distress Oxide ink with the packaging technique. Birthday

I did background for 2 pages but wasn't sure I liked it. The left over ink on my mat was used for this card. Now that I have finished the two pages, I do like them. But I used them for Day #21, so I'm using the card for day #19. Smooshing technique card

Here's one from me with some subtle packaging technique in the background.

your challenges are REALLY challenging me - I've never dabbled in mixed media but here goes...I picked up two distress ink sprays at HL tonight - sprayed them, sprayed with water and let the colours run together. Hopefully that's right. I used the edges for my matting and sentiment strip.
