I want to download an app, but it won't let me & gives me an error message that I don't have any devices.

I know there are several apps that I wanted that weren't offered. I'm not sure if there is a way around that. Amazon seems to be pretty proprietary.

I just switched to an ipad. One reason was the issue w/ apps. I believe the only way to use anything but amazon app store is to "jailbreak" your kindle

You can side load the play store on your Kindle. I have it on mine. You can Google to find out how to do it.
Edited to add: Jailbreaking an Android is called rooting. You don't have to root it to side load.

Rooting would void your warranty. Side loading the play store will not.
