I have to go to Puerto Rico for work. I have only been once, and just for a night. This is 5 nights. I would prefer to stay on the beach, but will have to go to Plaza Las Americas every day. It seems like from the time I was there that staying where I stayed (by the airport) wasn't the best from a traffic standpoint, although the beach was nice. I didn't drive myself then. Will be now. Driving seemed a bit crazy! Right now I have a reservation at a Marriott. Thought maybe if somebody was from there you may have a suggestion based on traffic of the best area. Thanks!

My boss only stays at one hotel when he goes to NYC, he doesn't care about the distance to the meeting. lol I went to San Juan years ago for a few nights prior to boarding a cruise so I'm of no specific help. But if it's on the company dime, I say stay somewhere nice and just get up early for your commute. My hotel was in the city but not near the beach so look for a halfway point. When I travel for work I always add on a personal day. Since you're going for 5 days, stay the weekend (on your dime) and enjoy your time there so you can actually see something you know.

I wish I could stay longer! I'm actually headed directly to Nashville for a work event from PR. My PR trip is a Wednesday - Monday, so I'm there over the weekend. My event is from 10-5 each day, but I'm just there to supervise. Hopefully by Saturday or Sunday I'll be able to enjoy a few hours. I am at a beachside hotel, I just remembered from my one very brief trip the guy driving me mentioned that I was on the wrong side of a tunnel or something - I should have picked a different area for traffic reasons. Not a huge deal - I think hopefully I'm good. It isn't THAT far away regardless. Just thought if anyone lived there they may have a suggestion. It is nice that hotels aren't crazy expensive there. Food is pretty expensive but lodging really isn't (at least when I'm going). And yes, it's better when work is footing the bill of course!

Traffic is San Juan sux all the time so I'm not sure I'd make a huge deal about it. I stayed in the Caribe Hilton and commuted by can daily to downtown. It was 20-30 minutes. So Plaza is not far from either that hotel or anything in Condado

I can just plan for 30 minutes each day. I previously stayed at the Marriott Courtyard, which is on a really nice beach right by the airport.
