Do you remember pastel colored toilet paper?

I remember those. There was even a grocery store near my university that carried them in the 90's.

Weren't there floral prints too?

Absolutely. And tissues were pastel colored as well.

My mother bought god-awful pink.

I really want this to be the next retro thing we revive.

Yes! Mom usually had yellow or green, while I much preferred the blue. It's been gone for years, so imagine my surprise when I moved to Paris and saw all the brightly colored Renova Toilet Paper!   I thought it would have been great to be able to buy school colors to use when t.p-ing houses in high school!  

Yes, my parents bought turquoise to match the bathroom. We also had flower and star patterns as well

My mom bought the pink and the blue!

My grandmother's favorite color was pink. Her bathroom was remolded in the fifties. She had a pink toilet seat, a pink bathtub, and a pink sink. The walls and floors were covered w/ pink tiles. Wanna guess what color her toilet paper was?

I sure do!

But more importantly, tissues were also available in colours and that was what we used to make those god-awful tissue carnation flowers for the wedding vehicles and reception décor

Even toothpastes were all white, but in the early 60's started making it in colors. I had to stay with an aunt when my mom was in the hospital and my sister stayed with another aunt. Both aunts went to the same church, so Sunday morning, I squirted that unbelievable green toothpaste onto some tp and took it to church to show my sister this amazing new invention. lol

I worked for the paper company from 1980 to 1994. We sold Northern and Aurora toilet paper. Yes, it came in colors and flower prints. Trivia: some neighborhoods would not purchase certain colors, so the undesirable color would back up on the shelf.
In two different stores, when I called on the store each month, I'd buy back the color that didn't sell so that the customers would have the colors they wanted. I'd leave the store with 2 shopping carts filled with yellow in one area and green in the other area.

Side story: When I went to Europe in 1992, I took some TP with me. Europeans would not manufacture the colored paper because of environmental concerns. I took some Aurora with rose flowers on it. We were staying several days in one hotel so I just put my TP on the holder in the bathroom. When we came back from sightseeing that night, only about 20 sheets were left on the roller. I am sure the maid wanted to take the unique TP home. When we left, I left a "tip" of a full roll of TP.

At that time, none of the places we stayed had white paper (environmental concerns). The TP was made with unbleached pulp so it all had a beige or tan color.

I kinda remember it.. but I don't think my mom ever bought anything but white... Maybe not?  Yellow is really the only color that I am sure we didn't have.

Our first expat assignment was in Africa in the mid-80's. The tp was this same rough paper, but it was a pinkish beige color. All incoming expats were duly warned ahead of time, so we went to a warehouse store (like a Costco) and bought enough cases of tp to last 2 years! Definitely got some odd looks that day! Then anytime we were home on leave, we would buy more tp to take back , along with other items we couldn't get there. Two 30" suitcases and 12 footlockers worth!
