Per a recent MRI, I’ve been diagnosed with moderate to severe arthritis in my lower back. I’ve had trouble with morning stiffness and pain for quite awhile now. We bought a new Sleep Number Bed about a month ago. I’m just curious what number you sleep at if you have low back pain and stiffness. I realize everyone is different. I’m just wondering. Also, someone suggested I add a top layer of memory foam - just a 1” layer. Has anyone done that? Thanks in advance.

I have scoliosis and my bed is set between 45 and 55. DHs is also set for 45 but he’s a big guy and I feel like his side is completely deflated... so keep that in mind. Sleeping with a pillow between my knees also really helps.

I only have occasional back pain. When I do have it I sleep at 70. My usual number is 55. And I try to stay on my back (I'm a stomach/side sleeper).

I always thought I liked a softer bed. What I find to be cozy and my body finds comfortable are different. We’ve had a sleep number for 6-7 years and in the last two or so, I sleep at 100%. I feel it in my shoulders if it gets lower.
I’m a side sleeper. I think I’ve tried sleeping at 60-85.

We have two of them, one at home and one at the lake cabin. I put a 2” memory foam topper on each one. I also have arthritis in my lower back that caused chronic pain. My side is set at 35-40 and that’s perfect for me.
I also go to a chiro every week and get adjusted, and he does this twisting thing to make it click into place. That makes the biggest difference but the bed helps too. When he used to just do the drop table it didn’t do anything.
