I’m always looking for an excuse to order a Costco sheet cake. I simply love the white version but I’m not quite crazy enough to buy one for my family of four.
If you don’t know these delicious cakes they are filled with two pounds of cheesecake or chocolate mousse, serve 48 and cost $18.99. They’re simply amazing.

Great idea but I literally have no self control. I’d eat it frozen! And I bet it would be good...

It's too bad they don't sell slices at the food court.

Great idea but I literally have no self control. I’d eat it frozen! And I bet it would be good... I know, I do (well not that cake but other stuff). I t takes thought to go back for a second piece, so you know you are doing it. It takes longer to eat frozen cake too, so the immediate pleasure lasts. If it has frosting, cut the pieces, freeze them all at once, then wrap in aluminum foil frozen. To eat, unwrap while frozen and all is well!

My cousin and I were just talking about that last week! Maybe we should all start a parking lot business. Selling slices of cake right outside the door. We could all be rich.

Buy some of the cupcakes instead and freeze those. Once they’re frozen, wrap each one in Glad Press N Seal and put them back inside their plastic pod for storage. Then you can take them out one at a time, thaw, cut in half and eat some cake without going overboard. We ordered way too many of their cupcakes for our 25th anniversary party. I froze and wrapped all the leftovers as noted above and put them in our deep freezer and they were still completely edible as much as 14 months later!

I bet if you explained exactly that to a police or fire station and gifted them a cake, but requested a slice back, they’d be MORE than happy to cut you a slice. Anywhere that has employees would work, as well. I picked up our cake once and my son fell ill, so we had to cancel his birthday party. I also had a vet visit that day, so the staff were gifted an unopened Mario Costco cake. You’d think it was a pile of money with how excited they were. The homeless shelter would even work. You could be known as the cake lady.

Too bad they don't sell in half sheets. I would think they would sell a decent amount at a smaller size for exactly the same reason you say you don't want to buy a large one. Many don't need that much cake. That would be too much for our family for a birthday cake so I would have to get a cake elsewhere. But sounds yummy!

I’ve been to Costco many times, but never tried their cakes. Now I feel like I can’t rest until I try one. And I just read that they used to do a carrot cake sheet cake that had some sort of apricot filling? Yum.

I like their cake, too. My sister is a snob and thinks it isn’t good enough. She’d rather spend $75 on a fancy bakery dessert. I’d rather eat a Costco cake. Except for SusieCakes. I’d always rather have SusieCakes. I think that’s just a regional chain. I’ve been to Costco many times, but never tried their cakes. Now I feel like I can’t rest until I try one. And I just read that they used to do a carrot cake sheet cake that had some sort of apricot filling? Yum. Try the tuxedo cake. It’s a little smaller. O ... M ... G ... I learned about this particular bit of decadence from the peas, of course.

Thanks a lot. Now I'm drooling! I love the Costco cakes -- they are the perfect balance of mousse, cake, and icing. It's just two of us now, so pretty much no chance that I'd buy one.

Once every other month I purchase one and take it to either our local LGBTQ outreach shelter or homeless teen shelter. I bring plates, napkins, and forks. The desk people know me, and escort me to the common room where I cut cake and serve. I get a piece, and provide a light moment to a community of kids that are often forgotten about.

My DH loves Costco cakes. I am celiac. Buying one, even when we have a birthday party is still way too much cake. We solved that by my DH becoming the cake guy for a local youth group we both volunteer with. Whenever there is a reason he brings cake. He has a box labeled plates and forks for cake he keeps in the store room. He has a button down shirt that says Cake Guy on the pocket. The kids all love him. And there is always enough to share with the kids, the adult volunteers and the parents when they come pick their kids up.

I have never liked cake for some reason. The only exception has been Costco’s cake. When I was working, it seemed like there was a birthday or some other occasion every week or two that had to be celebrated. When I first started working there, the receptionist would buy these nasty tasting half frozen cakes from the closest grocery store. Then someone else took over and started buying them at Costco. I typically took a small piece and just nibbled on it during the celebration and then tossed it when I got back to my office. When I tasted the Costco cake I was really surprised. It wasn’t dry and tasteless! I actually ate the whole piece too!

All I can say is that you have provided me a reason for being thankful we only have Sam’s Club in my neck of the woods. I would have no problems scarfing down that cake, thawed or frozen!

I freakin love Costco sheet cakes! Sadly, I couldn't have them anymore after I became milk intolerant. But they are really, really good. The mousse /custard is what keeps it moist, along with an inch or so of that yummy grocery store frosting. It's almost worth taking the hit.

The homeless shelter would even work. You could be known as the cake lady. Once every other month I purchase one and take it to either our local LGBTQ outreach shelter or homeless teen shelter. What a fantastic idea! I'm going to keep this in mind. I don't do Costco as it's almost a 40 minute drive away. But Sam's club has good desserts. I love their brownie tray. And I'm trying to lose weight. So this would be perfect to take to the shelter and get me a brownie without having to feel like I have to eat the whole tray.
