I’m tempted to buy one and open up the back of my minivan and hand out slices to other shoppers based on the response here!

I hate cake and even I like Costco sheet cake. This made me laugh. And I'm wondering what made you try it, even when you know you hate cake. I'm picturing you at a party where someone does that awkward "Green Eggs and Ham" thing where it's a forceful fight over trying the cake until you finally do. Or did you just need sugar and it was the only thing around?

. [/quote]Try the tuxedo cake. It’s a little smaller.
O ... M ... G ... I learned about this particular bit of decadence from the peas, of course.

I have a Tuxedo in my fridge waiting to go to a party! I can’t wait to try it!

I’m actually not a fan of the tuxedo cake but love their sheet cakes and going to have to try the summer berry cake that looks amazing. I so want their cake now.

We just joined Costco and are having a birthday party this upcoming weekend. Sounds like I should get a cake from Costco.
Few questions: Do they write Happy Birthday on the cake? How far in advance do you need to order them? Are they really big enough to serve 48 people normal size cake slices or are the slices really small if serving that many?

You can specify what you want on the cake. They have several themes. You order 24-48 hours in advance I think. 48 slices would be really tiny. I would think you would need 2 cakes. You can see the size of them when you go in to order them.

Costco cake is BOMB! When I am a very old lady and no longer care about having a waistline, I intend to ALWAYS have birthday cake at my disposal. Just one slice a day. That and maybe some whiskey and I'll be set. I'll be that 101 year old woman who credits long life to cake and whiskey.

I like a thick slice of cake so I would get one chocolate and one white for 48 people. If you order 24 hours ahead you can have it customized or they will add a message to a ready to go cake if you just show up. One of the options is marked off into 48 sections with a rosebud in each, you could get that one to feed 48. But people will want more once they’ve tasted it!
I’ve also learned from an insider you can cross off the flavors and have chocolate cake with white icing!

I'm wondering now if I have ever HAD a slice of Costco sheet cake. Hmmmm... I've never lived closer than an hour plus away from a Costco. I don't know that I've ever been to an event that had this amazing cake of which you speak. I feel like I'd remember it if I did.
Interestingly enough, I'm headed an hour away to Costco tomorrow. We recently bought a membership so I'm meeting my best friend there and then we're moving on for lunch and further shopping. If I come home with one of those darn cakes because of this thread, I'm blaming every one of you.

Ugh it won’t let me quote anyone but me on my phone.
We aren’t having 48 people, more like 25 and I was worried that I’d have way too much cake if I ordered this. Think I’ll be ok and can send some extra home with family if the slices are on the smaller size.
So I can’t find the cake on the website. What are my filling flavor options. Cake will be vanilla since that’s what birthday person will want.
Also, can you call in an order? DD has early dismissal tomorrow so I’ll be short on time to go to the actual store.

Pretty sure you have to go in and fill out the paper. Chocolate or vanilla cake, chocolate mousse filling or buttercream I think. Not a lot of options. Found out you can change it up if you write it in the sheet. Found out after we ordered last time.

I can’t eat gluten or dairy anymore. I’m reading this thread crying big tears while my mouth waters at the same time. I love cake. Cake with lovely frosting. The only gluten free cake I’ve found that’s truly delicious is Karas Cupcakes in NorCal. I live in NJ now. Boo boo poor me.
If I ate a piece of Costco cake the gluten would give me a massive migraine and the dairy would cause me truly terrible intestinal distress. But if I took a large dose of Tylenol and a bunch of lactaid....It would only take a week or so for me to recover. LOL.
I may have to stop by Costco today. Because I need to stock up on toilet paper, yes, that’s my excuse, toilet paper.
Actually, if I eat that cake I WILL need toilet paper. LOL

I'm not sure I've had Costco cake - BUT Sam's Club cupcakes are TO DIE for! You can get 30 for $15. I ordered them for a wedding last year and again for a baby shower. I am diabetic so .... it is difficult to limit myself to just one. Good thing we only get them for parties!

So I have a friend going to Costco Monday and is going to get me a cake, which should I get? I mean, they both sound amazing, but is there one that outshines the other? Thanks!

We always get Costco as they are closer. Some like their rotisserie chicken better but I prefer Costco so I just haven’t been able to risk it. To bad they don’t have smaller sample packs. They have had a few different cakes that were really tempting.

If you love chocolate get that! If you just like chocolate get white. Either way, you can’t go wrong but I feel the chocolate is for chocolate lovers. Mmmmm.

I was at Costco today and they had a few readymade cakes in their cooler. It took everything I had to not put one in the cart! I knew there wouldn’t be enough freezer space to freeze the rest of it until we could eat it all so I had to leave it there. Boo.
