I had my previous (and first ever) StazOn in Jet Black for years. And years. It had suffered too much from accidentally opening up and remaining exposed to air for a few days. I'd ordered a new one a while back but only just broke the seal to use it. Erm, it's very juicy! I suddenly have some major ghosting + bleeding issues on my Happy Planner pages which I'd never had before with my black StazOn. Ruh-roh!
Anyone else had this happen? Anything I can do without killing this new pad like my previous? I've tried the pre-stamping method but it gives mixed results. Any safe options to dry the pad out a little?

I’m curious to know too. I have a SC pad that’s so sopping we’re it’s unusable.

I would take out some old card stock and just press it on that a few times to see if it could sop up some of the excess. StazOn is great, but it is a little tricky sometimes.

Damned the ink loss because I've so far even tried blowing on the freshly inked stamp before pressing down and it's not helping much. Off to find some paper and give the multiple presses a go...

It will still last a long time.

I've heard pressing a plastic spoon is a common thing people do to press the ink into the pad when they re-ink them, might help with a new one, too?

Here are 3 things I have learned over the years: 1 Inks will release from the stamp faster than the paper will absorb it, count to 10. 2 The stamping process requires a layer of rubber. the rubber can be between the block and the paper or under the paper. 3 Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want. I personally have a lot of experience. When you stamp off give it a second or two to allow the paper absorb the excess ink. I like a juicy pad as it allows me to heat emboss. Staz-on dries very fast so I can only do one impression at a time.

I would guess that working with a very old and presumably dried pad may have affected your muscle memory of how hard to press & ink? If approaching it like a brand new tool with a light hand doesn't fix the issue, than blotting off some of the extra ink with a paper towel might help. I'd try adjusting your pressure when stamping first.

1 Inks will release from the stamp faster than the paper will absorb it, count to 10. so you're saying that if you wait a few seconds (okay, 10, lol) before you lift the stamp off the paper that it will lessen the amount of bleeding or smearing? huh- who knew?? (not me, anyway...) I started out with stamping 25+ years ago, but I guess when I switched to scrapbooking, I forgot all the stamping stuff I ever learned, lol.

I'm having the same problem with my new Stayz On ink pad. It's so juicy that my date stamp comes out as a wet blob. What I've been doing is putting it face down on my old one (lids off) when I get started on scrappy stuff. Then when I want to stamp something, I use the OLD one and it stamps perfectly. I figure that eventually the old one will have absorbed the excess from the new one and it will be good to go.

I have a purple dye ink that’s waaaaaay too juicy too. Will try the blotting thing out on it.
