My kids are into watching the World Cup. We don't have cable. They have been watching the Spanish channel for days & have no idea what they are saying. I could stream it on my computer but don't want to share.

I actually heard these words come out of my mouth: "You can't have any more bacon until you eat your doughnut." Well, I must admit, I CACKLED at this one. My child is 25, but I can totally see me saying something similar to him when he was little. I haven't read all the responses yet, but it's going to take something really good to top this. Still laughing...

My son lives in SC. When he lived here in MD, he bacame addicted to a particular brand of potato chips that are not available in SC. So, over the years (even when in lived in CA) we have either sent or taken several bags with us when we visit. He now has two sons who are also addicted to the damn things! We always have them on hand when they come home. The last two times we traveled south, we totally forgot their potato chips!! Need I say, we still haven't heard the end of it! Not only a bad mommy, but a bad mommaw too! ![](http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/basic/smileyvault-slaphead.gif)

I had a son who went through a real sassy streak. I tried 1-2-3 Magic, standing in the corner, taking away toys, just everything. One day I told him he was going to get soap in his mouth. Well, there was no bar soap in the house, so I squirted a little liquid soap in his sassy mouth. OMG. BAD BAD BAD mistake. He got sick and puked. I was terrified that I had poisoned him but too scared and ashamed of myself to call anywhere to inquire about it. It took so very long to get it rinsed out of his poor little mouth. He is 25 and to this day still brings that up from time to time when he wants to remind me of what a mean mom I was. At least we both can get a good laugh out of it now.

She wasn't really complaining about it, acted like it was more of a sprain and just really babied it. That was until 2 days later and the dog ran by her and she lost her balance and stumbled. Having landed on the bad leg, she went through the roof in pain. The poor Mom felt just awful about it.

I didn't go to dd's kindergarten end of year award ceremony. It was written on the calendar and I talked about it for days but on the actual day I spaced out and forgot. I figured it out when I picked her up that afternoon and I burst into tears. I still feel terrible about it. In my defense I had a toddler and newborn at home so I had zero brain cells.

The worst one I can think of was shortly after we adopted DD from China. We'd been home for about a month - so she was about 13 months old. She was getting physical therapy because she had no muscle tone and was struggling to crawl and sit up on her own (due to having been in an orphanage - she is just fine now). Well, I was exhausted from adjusting to being a new mom and was struggling with a bit of post-adoption blues. On this particular day, I'd been having a really rough day. I had not showered, was still in my PJs, DD had just gone down for a nap and I was flopped down on the sofa watching Oprah and eating chocolate. When someone knocked on the door. Yep - it was the physical therapist coming for her weekly appointment with Rachel. I had forgotten and was so horrified and embarrassed that I wouldn't let her in, telling her I was "sick." Then I spent the rest of the day feeling even worse because what kind of mother forgets her new baby's appointments, pretends to be sick, and makes her baby miss the appointment!!!

long time lurker here! Hi all. I have so many I couldnt possibly list them all but the most recent one? We were at an out of town tournament and stayed over night in a hotel. I didnt check DD (13) packing. She remembered her entire uniform but NOTHING else. LOL - um mom, I dont have any underware or pajama's. Well fortunately we got her a tournament shirt and she could sleep in that but to solve her other problem? well here, you can wear a pair of MINE! (good thing they werent granny panties) ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) She wanted to pass them up but she didnt have any alternative. We ended up winning the entire tournament so I told her of course she now has to wear my panties to every tournament ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) she adamently refused that one! LOL and Gar dont feel too bad, my oldest DS came home with a broken wrist and me being the not thinking mom actually grabbed his wrist and turned it over because I couldnt see anything. What an idiot I was. I have never lived that one down and it was almost 20 years ago!

As for okayest mother of the year award, we had hot dogs and mac n cheese for lunch today...for the third day in a row.

I'll leave now ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) Well I did the same thing. Twice. First time my oldest was 18 months old - yep, practically still a baby. She fell off a tiny baby chair in slow motion. I comforted her for a few mins then told her that was enough. Two days later I notice her hand was purple. Yep, broke 2 fingers and separated one off the growth plate. Second time, second child. She was about 7 or 8 and fell on stage at a dance competition. Complaining that her shoulder was hurting but she was using it ok so I just brushed it off. She came to me in hysterics in the middle of the night, so upset with me that I didn't believe her that it was hurting. Broke both her clavicle and scapula. So ya, Totally mom of the year over here. *blush*

You didn't forget their birthday, you just don't know what day of the week it is. I woke up two different days last week thinking it was Sunday, when really it was Tuesday and Wednesday. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

For some reason my first thought was of my own mother who blew out my 7 yr old sister's birthday candles before the birthday girl could. My sister BAWLED and my mom felt awful. She said she didnt even think about it...she was the baby.

Oh WiiPii! Thank you for sharing that......it's good to know I'm not alone. Oh I promise you aren't alone. My kids tease me constantly because I always say "We will keep an eye on it" when it comes to pretty much every injury. ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png) My response is to their teasing is that if they aren't on fire, there aren't any visible bones, no vomit or blood-then it most likely can wait. Because? I am an Okayest mom. I can also check off the forgotten Tooth Fairy money, feeding them cereal for dinner, and other not always serving vegetables. I don't always make them make their beds, I sometimes yell at them, I have been known to let them play video games until their eyes bleed and I always love them. Oh, and I haven't taken cute school pictures since about 2nd grade. And the ones I have taken? Sometimes they are a couple of days later and I pretend that they are the first day. LOL

My children's bedrooms look like a hurricane just went through. Making the beds? Ha! They are lucky if we remember to change sheets in a reasonable amount of time (I will not confess to what I consider reasonable but I will say it's not once a week.
My youngest started saying frak and five. Made me glad I don't use traditional swear words, I can tell you that.
If the tooth fairy manages to come the first night my children are absolutely shocked.
Today's trip to the grocery store: two bags of chips, three bags of heavily sugared cereal, ramen noodles, hot dogs, sugared cream cheese spread, etc. I think the only healthy thing in my cart was the bag of cherries that only dh will eat.
I won't shame myself further, but I will say I would be the ultimate mediocre mother if only one could be ultimate and mediocre at the same time.

DH and my oldest (new graduate) went on a 2 weeks man trip together. They were due back this Thursday. This morning at 5:30 am the doorbell rings. I manage to get to the door (thinking I must have dreamed the doorbell thing.) I open the door to find the boys back 2 days early. My response was "no, no, no!" I had today all planned out to clean and get "important" stuff done. Great welcome home huh?! LOL. They were so tired I don't really think they noticed.

I would get to school with my tea towel sling and my teacher would make me take it off because he thought I was faking. Well didn't they both feel like shit when I needed a cast for 6 weeks.

So DD was a bit of a monkey when she was a toddler. Climbed everything! I had her in a shopping cart while I was looking at clothes in a dept. store. she would NOT sit down. After about the fourth warning I said "Sit your butt down or I will have to smack it!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, "Don't hit me Mama, Please don't hit me!!" ( we never used corporal punishment in our lives.) I picked her up and ran out of the store hoping for the life of me that no one I knew had heard. I kept waiting for CYS to show up at my door. She's 21 now and every once in a while while we are shopping she will yell out "Don't hit me Mama ." And duck into a different isle.

Summer vacation started 26 days ago and my 14 year old has worn PJ's 21 of those days. I do make him shower and put on clean ones daily so I should get points for that.

I bribed my oldest son to break the news of Santa to the younger kids. I was tired of all of the pomp and circumstance. We still do Santa gifts, but it is so much easier now. *hangs head in shame* ![](http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view/1059245/joe-dirt-hangs-head-shame-runs-o.gif)

My DS 13 plays travel baseball. So, my DD also 13 gets dragged along most times depending on the distance we have to travel. She HATES to carry any type of purse which grates my nerves. So, we get all the way out of town, in the middle of a tournament and she starts her period. We had to leave the game, find a convenience store, pay $100 for 4 pads (ok, so I exaggerated on the price) and the whole time I was ranting about how if she had brought her purse......
Next day, middle of the tournament - I STARTED MY PERIOD! I had my purse, but was 2 days early and had to use one of her pads we bought the day before. :/
