I've made various casseroles with cut up grands biscuits in the past. The biscuits never cook through all the way and are somewhat doughy. So, I've avoided these type of recipes for a while. But, I just found a good one I want to try. Anyone have a good, tried and true way to get the biscuit dough to cook through? And, here's the recipe in case anyone is interested.
** The recipe calls for cutting up the 8 biscuits into 8 pieces each (which is what I've done in the past with similar recipes and the biscuits are still doughy).
BBQ Chicken Bubble Up Bake from the Pillsbury website under recipes.
Thanks!!!

Cut them into 4ths and use them that way, especially if it is for a casserole.

And they don’t cook all the way through in 8ths? Then I would cook longer. If they are overly brown on top, you can cover with foil once they are brown, or lower the oven temp and cook longer uncovered.

I find the smaller store brand biscuits, cut into 1/8, cook better in bubble ups than Grands.

For recipes like that I use Pillsbury crescent sheets instead of biscuits. Or I mix up a cheddar bay biscuit mix and spread on top.

i used to make a version of this all the time and mine always came out done. use a larger pan if you are getting doughy results.

I would make sure the biscuits are about room temp and I would reduce the heat 25 degrees and bake 10-15 minutes longer.

Could you put the pieces upside down on a cookie sheet and prebake them a bit so the bottom is more cooked then add to the casserole? Or even bake them almost completely the regular way and add to casserole when it is almost done? I don't like soggy biscuits so that's probably what I would do.

I agree to use a different brand. A recipe I make for biscuits and gravy casserole even says to not use grands specifically. I use the generic biscuits and they cook through every time.

I totally agree with those that say do not use Grands. they just do not cook through at all for me, either, and that is why I quit using them. A friend gave me a recipe years ago (well, just directions, not really a recipe, for "upside down pizza". You cook hamburger and then after it is browned and crumbled up, add pizza sauce (she used spaghetti sauce, but I prefer pizza sauce). Then add whatever toppings you like on pizza. I cut pepperoni into fourths and add to the hamburger and sauce mixture. Then she just put them into an oven-safe dish and topped with biscuits. She used grands and they didn't cook through. I just buy store brand. I cook at the temperature and time the biscuits call for.
I really wanted to like those mini pepperoni for this dish, but they have no flavor, so I use a pizza cutter to cut my pepperoni into quarters.

I just made a cheese burger bubble up. The instructions said if you are concerned it will be doughy to put the cut up biscuts into the oven for 5-10 minutes before adding the other ingredients. then cook as directed
