I am hoping we have some vinyl experts here. I want to cut a design to put on my water bottle. I am a little confused because it is a powder coated bottle, so not sure what type of vinyl I would need or if it would even work? And I am assuming it would need to be handwashed then?
Anyone have any experience with vinyl on yetis? Or is there a better technique?
I've been googling and checking pinterest but haven't really found any good "how to".
Thanks!

I have put vinyl on several smoothie mugs, but not a Yeti. I hand wash them, but only because I made them before I knew that you can buy a vinyl that is dishwasher safe. I saw some at Vinyl Outlet when visiting Salt Lake City. There are probably other places that also sell it, but you can see if Vinyl Outlet sells online.

I have put vinyl on my yeti. I used permanent Orcal vinyl from Michaels. I do hand wash it though. I've done this on a stainless Yeti and not a powder coated one.

My experience is that vinyl sticks really well to stainless steel, especially if your cuts are not to thin and wispy. But it does not stick to powder coated ones.
If you want it on a powder coated one, I would epoxy over the top, which is a several day process.

Interesting! Thanks for the tips. Good thing, I won't waste too much time messing it up. I have seen something about etching or sand blasting, but I don't think I am brave enough for that. Maybe I will just try it even if it's temporary, can always change it up...

Really, you have nothing to lose. Try your vinyl and see if it sticks. You are going to have better luck with thicker lines than with thin lines. If it doesn't stick, you have only lost your time and a small amount of product. If you end up with the design falling off and sticky residue, Goo Gone will take the adhesive residue off.
If you are ordering vinyl, I'd try the Series 51. it's made for outdoor use and may stand up better. But I'd still hand wash it.
