Have you thought about this or taken steps to improve your productivity or reduce your screen time? I have been, but it is more the desktop and iPad that I spend too much time on. Although I'm retired, there are so many projects that I want/need to do here that aren't happening because I spend too much time with devices. Reducing digital time and increasing productivity will be something I am working on as we go forward. I will have to look into the books and podcast. TFS! Would love to hear what others are doing to accomplish the same goals.

It may sound strange, but having an iWatch has reduced my iPhone screen time. I get notifications from IG, email and text on my watch. It especially keeps me from falling into the black hole on IG. Since I don’t look at my phone, I also don’t look at my other apps.
I am trying to reduce my YouTube time when I am at home. That is a big time sucker for me.

I think it might depend on what you use your phone for. If it is a lot of social media, then in general, I think people need to look at the amount of time they spend on it, but I know others that use that was their office for their self employment. They keep appointments, schedules, order etc on the phone and barely have time to check social media, so that, I wouldn't consider in the equation.

Yes, for some people their phones are tools that help them be more productive. I do use the to do list on my phone and that helps me to get things on my list while I'm not near my notebook. I'd be lost without it because the way my brain works I have to stop what I'm doing and jot the thought down or it's gone forever. Twitter, Reddit, 2 Peas on the other hand=time sucks and I want to reduce my time on them. In the podcast the author of Make Time talks about his daily Twitter time. It's scheduled and purposeful instead of, "where did the last 30 minutes go?"

I liked Deep Work and follow a lot of those principles and find them beneficial.
However, I’m exhausted by the whole digital minimalism thing. It’s just another flavor of virtue signaling.

Virtue signaling? Well I have not thought of that. Just trying to get more things done myself, not judge others.

I spend WAYYYYY too much time on my iPad and computer. My kids do too. I think maybe we need to all do a detox. Maybe over spring break? Next weekend? Not sure when would be best to give it a go. I have a flip phone so I use my iPad to pea, Facebook, game.
