I am not a dog person. I prefer cats. I'll never be one 'those' dog owners. This little face has changed all that. Meet Mance Rayder Vom Graystone Hof.  Twelve weeks old yesterday. And he has completely stolen my heart. I do refuse to call him a fur-baby though and I am not his dog-mom. I gotta draw that line somewhere! |

Awww! I was never a dog person. But we got a puppy this summer that changed me. Granted we had 2 other dogs previously (still have one of those). He passed away in September. We rescued another dog a few weeks later. Those 2 changed me. I'm a dog mommy.

I'm much the same - cat person for sure. But DH wanted a med-large dog, and we have acreage for one, so I wasn't going to veto it. We ended up with a 9mo. old GSD. He's now 9.5 and I'm very aware of how empty the house will feel when he crosses the bridge. We say he's really just our biggest cat (seeks out sunbeams, always thinks he's on the wrong side of the door, is completely ruled by the two real cats, etc.), so I guess maybe I can say I really am still just a cat person.  |

Is there a story behind his name? Mance Rayder is a Game of Thrones character. The Vom Graystone Hof bit indicates the breeder he came from. My son has a two-year old female from there and this is one of her puppies. I’ll bet that cute pink tongue gives the best ever kisses! I can't believe I actually have to "kiss" the dog every time I come or go. It's amazing how fast I can eat my words of what I'll 'never' do. |

When DH and I got married my "dowry" was 2 cats. One of them disliked DH as much as he disliked her, and we ended up having to rehome her. The other one however, turned my non cat person DH into a if we ever got another cat it HAS to be a maine coon. He was more upset than I was when she crossed the rainbow bridge. Sometimes you meet an animal that says I know you're not a dog/cat person but I'm special.

Like you said, never say never. I bet you WILL become one of ‘those’ dog moms! It’s inevitable— they have a way of melting your heart in a way you can’t ever imagine. Such a cutie and I love his name!!

So cute! Not a “dog mom?” RIIIIIGHT. Sure you’re not!  That all changes the second your pup escapes the yard for the first time, or needs to go to the vet for anything that’s not routine, or tangles it up with some other dog. At those moments when your new baby is in trouble, you become the dog mom you said you’d never be. |

Ou first dog as a couple was a stray - a GSD that no one ever claimed. Best.dog.ever.
I was going to say”welcome to the dark side, but more appropriately, Welcome to the “dog side”.
(My DH was strictly a cat person. Yeah, that didn’t last long. In fact, he’s the one that insisted we get 2 beagles the day we went to pick up one. )

I like his eyebrow formation. And as you have discovered, it's possible to be a cat AND a dog person simultaneously. It adds dimension to one's world. Also you dont have to call them fur babies; that's a myth. Have fun with your pup! 😁

We got our first dog three years ago. I resisted getting a dog for a looooong time before that. Well, I am her mom. I do draw the line at fur baby, though. They change your life in so many ways! Your guy is adorable 😍
