Does a ton use this to back smaller items that are difficult to apply adhesive to? Thinking of grabbing one for her I have smaller things I cut or make.

I love my little X sticker maker. I use it quite a bit for oddly shaped items or items too thin to use glue or sticky tabs. I found refills on amazon and I should be good for a while—which is good because I don’t want to run out anytime soon.

I have the X and also the larger one that fits I think up to 5”.
I think it’s a great tool, and if you try to conserve how much sticker paper you use (like feeding items consecutively instead of pulling the paper and cutting in between), you can get even more use out of it.

Very handy for small items. Worth the purchase. I don’t use it a lot, but when I need it it’s the perfect solution.

I have several sizes. Every time I use one, I think why don’t I use this more often. Love my Xyrons.

I have the Xyron X and have used it for several years. I save it for the tiny little pieces. I get my refills on Amazon.

I love my Xyron X. I learned at a crop at a local LSS years ago how to hold the refill so I don't even need to use the machine, which saves a ton of the tape, as I don't waste as much feeding through the actual "X".

Basically hold the refill in your non dominant hand, with your thumb and forefinger pinching the center of the refill. Use your dominant hand to start the item through the refill and then start pulling on the tape on the exit side of the refill. I'd take pictures to show you, but I am out of town at the moment.

I love my little X.. and I also wonder why I don't use it more often (well other than because I am cheap and hate to buy refills)

Ok! I grabbed it off of amazon since it was around $15 which seemed like a good deal! Seems like the replacement cartridges are the expensive part. Any places to buy in bulk for less. The one I saw on amazon was $13!

I do not have a bad memory, I do have an excellent Forgetter. I have 3 X's. They are on a peg board shelf right behind me. Whenever I could use one, my Forgetter kicks in; I pour out a glob of glue, grab a toothpick, laboriously apply the glue to a very dainty bit of material, then with much difficulty attempt to attach the piece to my project. Usually I find the 3rd time is a charm.

The one I saw on amazon was $13! Amazon can be SO frustrating! The prices constantly change! I ordered a four pack in September for under $14.00. Now they are selling it at $38.00! I'll have to see if Hobby Lobby might be selling refills. I think Michaels stopped.

I’ll need to check out the packs and use camel camel camel and stick up when I need some. Amazon is so frustrating! I tend to order my photo paper in bulk when my finally goes down!

I've also bought refills on HSN during their craft days ( which seem to be monthly now.)
Xyron often has Beth Kingston demo for them & I think she is so cute & spunky.

The X is more fun to use, but I use both of the thinner widths of the red tape to stick down smaller items that need good adhesion. Stick it on, peel off the tape, slap it down, and done!

Love the little X! Look at scrapbookpal.com for refills. I often find she has the best prices.

WalMart.com has refills at a fair price. I just took a peek and filtered it to be just WalMart and not the resellers. I hope that helps.
I love mine too. I have the X & 5. I use my X the most. It is great for delicate ribbon, glitter, delicate papers. I don't use mine often. I am always relieved to have it on hand when I do need to glue something that most other adhesives can't handle.

Tip for you...run an embossing tool around all the edge of your die cut before you peel off the backing. This will eliminate most of the glue blobs.

I love the Xyron X. Use it all the time. I'll have to try the trick of using it without the machine.

However, I’m not entirely as fond of them as I used to be. I’m convince that xyron changed their formula while I was away from scrapping. I’ve had a couple of occasions where the adhesive stayed on the wax paper rather than my item. My newest refill seems to be doing better though ETA they still have them and there is a %20 off entire online basket right now

Lol The dumb bells asked me for a review and I reviewed it honestly - the refill are fine, work great in my sprocket but not worth the price since it jumped $10 - don’t ask me my opinion if you don’t want it. The price came down a bit but still not enough Then I searched until I found it elsewhere for the price I’d bought it at before & got 9 months worth

I'll be the lone woman out and say that I don't like the Xyron sticker maker. I'm glad it works for others, but I always get frustrated by the glue that hangs off the edges. I've watched people do it on YouTube, I've used a stylus around the edges of the item so that the glue separates...but it just doesn't work well for me and it takes waaaaay too long. It's a skill I just don't have. I'd much rather use double-sided adhesive sheets before die cutting or even use small dots of liquid glue.

I'd much rather use double-sided adhesive sheets before die cutting or even use small dots of liquid glue. m This is what I was talking about when I said I felt the formula changed. I used xyron all the time the last time I scrapped I have 2 sizes of machines. But when I came back to scrapping the new refills seemed to give me MUCH more trouble. I certainly can’t put a diecut word thru like I used to. No matter how much I go around it with a stylus large portions of the word do not have adhesive on it as it stayed on the wax paper or cane off on the plastic. The parts of the word that does have adhesive has blobs. Only mostly solid shapes work well. I bought 5 refills, I’ll use those upon solid die cuts, but my older stuff ( which I’m almost out of ) works 100 percent better .
