I have a question about Disney cut files
I've always had a Silhouette. Years ago I considered a Cricut because they had the Disney cartridges. Do they still have those? Does Cricut have something like the Silhouette store that would have the Disney files now? (not in a cartridge format) Can the files be used in a Silhouette? I'd almost consider either borrowing a circuit or getting one because I'm going to start on all our Disney photos and I'd really like to be able to cut characters.
Or is the only option to hunt down an old cricut and cartridges?
Thanks

You can buy individual images. Most of them seem to be $1.99 each.

In the past o heard of people using coloring books to electronicly trace Disney images. Not sure how that worked.

The ones I saw with Winnie the Pooh and friends were different from the ones I have on the cartridges, but I didn't look through all of the ones you can buy separately.

The Cricut store has both old ahd new Disney designs (based on what I have seen, unless something has changed).
When I was making 27 t-shirts for family members prior to a Disney trip, in addition to designs that I bought from Cricut, I also used coloring book designs and traced them with my Silhouette. One shirt that I did for my son-in-law was a mix of a Cricut Disney file that I bought and a Silhouette file. Having both machines is an advantage.
Unless something has changed, the Cricut store does not offer svg or other files that are compatible with Silhouette. Silhouette does offer an svg version of their files for using with other machines, however, and if you own the business version of Silhouette’s software, you can create your own designs, and export as svg for using with Cricut. If you don’t design your own cutting files (even if it is just tracing coloring book designs), you can pay a bit extra for svg versions of most Silhouette files in order to use them with the Cricut. Silhouette plays nicely with others. Cricut does not.
I originally bought the Cricut Explore Air 2 for cutting leather. I mostly use it for cutting Disney files. It’s nice to have both machines, but I just cannot see ever giving up my Cameo, even though my Cricut Explore is a really good machine. I don’t like the Cricut software nearly as much as the Silhouette software. When my original Cameo stopped working with my laptop, I did consider just using the Silhouette software for creating svg files to cut on my Cricut Explore, but I decided to get the Cameo 3 instead. I really don’t like the Cricut software. The Explore deserves much more capable software.

Are you opposed to using images you find online to create cut files and Print & Cut designs? I know there are some copyright issues that come with this. And even though it is a personal use only situation, if your follow the letter of the law, I know it crosses the line... But you can make anything with the Silhouette!
You can purchase the Disney stuff from Cricut, but it won't be compatible with the Silhouette. You can use the free Cricut software and then screenshot your designs (preferable set to solid black and open that screenshot in Studio to trace it to create the cut file.

here's another question....can you see the files Cricut offers without subscribing to Cricut access? I'm still thinking about getting one for the licensed characters but I'd like to see what's offered first. I can't seem to figure out which store they are in and if I can access it first. Thanks!

I don’t know if this helps, but when I want a quick reference to which Cricut cartridge to look on for an image I want I just google the image and circuit. The images come up, often with the name of the cartridge they are on. Can you get a peek at the images for the cut files you are looking for that way?

You need a free Cricut account, but you do not need Cricut access to view the files.
