I feel SO vain and silly even asking this but.... I have my regular appointment to colour my (very grey) roots this week. I can certainly wait a week but realistically this will all last 6-8+ weeks, at which point I will look like a skunk. There is distance between patrons but obviously the hairstylist is literally touching my head.
I can’t decide between cancelling the appt or rescheduling to today so I can get it done quickly. Ugh, I feel ridiculous even asking this but are others in the same boat? What would you do?

I have a hair cut appt today and am still planning to go. I made the appt two months ago and this was the first available. I am not cancelling but will understand if she does.

I still plan on going Thursday if she is still open. It is a very small salon with limited hours. Also aware that small business owners will be hurting through this. If she decided to cancel I would totally understand.

I am canceling. I don't dare bring anything home to DH.
My stylist is self employed, so I plan to still pay her. I'll mail her a check.
I'll be wearing my gray right there with you.

I have a cut & color in 2 weeks. I’ll let her decide. I’m good with not going, but my hair will be a grey disaster.

I have a color appointment tomorrow and am planning to go unless the stylist were to cancel. I do my own all over color and only get highlights about 3 times a year. I hate paying that much to end up staying home for weeks but I don't think it is fair to deprive her of that income. I'll look good for Dh at least I'm not worried about being in her salon. She has a stylist on maternity leave so it might be just the two of us and other customer for a cut while I'm processing.

My lovely hairdresser that I have used for 15 years or so has posted a note saying she is going into isolation. I completely understand, she recently had pneumonia so I would hate for her to succumb to another illness.
In the meantime, very few people will see me so I'm not too bothered.

I am keeping mine on Wednesday. We need to keep living. Just be safe. Wash your hands.

I cancelled. I'm in a growing out phase so I'm embracing this as a time to grow and embrace the headband.

My appointment is Thursday and I'm the last customer of the day. My stylist has all ready warned me that she'll be wearing a mask which of course I'm fine with.
Between being overdue for both a cut and color, I look awful!!

I should add that my stylist works for Salons by JC so she has a small suite just for herself. Much smaller number of people going in and out and easier for her to clean after each person leaves.

My hair stylist does home visits so I kept my appointment for this past weekend, when we scheduled our next visit she said she’d understand if I needed to cancel. I plan on paying her no matter what.

My stylist put a message out the other day saying at this time the salon was going to remain open, and follow all recommended cleaning procedures and precautions. The salon is very clean already so they are probably just stepping everything up. She asked that if anyone wants to cancel, to just let them know as soon as possible.

Stay home.
It’s very simple.
Stay. Home. Except for something NECESSARY like when you run out of food or medicine.
Why does it matter if you have gray roots if you aren’t going anywhere?

And this thread is an example of why this shit is going to spread like wildfire here in the US. Like OMG. STAY HOME PEOPLE.

I have an appointment tomorrow for my roots.
There are no reported cases in our area at this time (smaller town).
The salon called yesterday - my usual stylist had been on a cruise and has a cough. He’s fine but is self isolating (just got home hasn’t been near anybody since).
They offered to rebook later or I can have another gal do my roots.
I’m still going.

My DD and I were talking about hair last night and I said the same thing, who cares if I have grey roots if I'm not going anywhere. Which makes me wonder why I do it anyway, I don't go out much and work from home. Maybe now will be the time to embrace it.

My sister-in-law is my hairstylist and I am way overdue, but guess what ~ I'm not going. I just trimmed my own bangs and I've never been this brunette before, but I can be blonde again when this is all over.
I'm also due to get my nails done as I have acrylic tips. But at this point I am going to let them grow out until i can't stand it anymore and then I will pluck them off. I can get new tips put on when this is all over.
This is a no-brainer to me. How vain do we need to be to ensure we have fresh highlights when Corona virus hits?

I have an appointment next week, and unless things progress to crazy levels and she closes, I’ll be there, as well as getting a massage for a very sore/tight neck/shoulder.

I just cancelled this week even tho the gray roots will be frightening. I’m in the high risk category and it’s stupid for me to go but I wanted to.

I kept my appt on Thursday. I emailed her a day before and asked if she could be the only person working on me (usually she has an assistant) and I was the only person seated in a row of about 8 chairs. There are about 40 chairs in the salon and only 4-5 were in use. It was very quiet in there. Other than the stylist and receptionist, I had no interaction with anyone else.

One of my granddaughters is a hair stylist. She doesn't make a LOT of money, so I'm hoping this virus isn't going to make a big difference for her. But I also don't want her to get sick!! She is booked up for the next month. I wonder how many will cancel.

When times are tough, we rely on the pretty people, so definitely keep those critical appointments.

I had my hair done last week, but my gal is the only one in the salon so no other stylists or customers. I am sad that I can't have my mani/pedi this month, but I will deal. I do worry about their businesses though. Times will be tough for them.

My mother was a hairstylist, so I know how bad it must feel to cancel on someone with a per-service income. You could still pay them. I wouldn’t go—right now, I would keep my contacts to what is necessary for my household (groceries/food, medicine, necessary medical appointments).
My stylist sent out an email yesterday saying that she is cleaning her equipment as always and isn’t taking new appointments or new clients. I honestly wonder how she thinks limiting appointments to pre-existing clients helps.

MIL is a stylist and I am sad for her that she has to go in. Her customers will have a fit if she cancels on them. Same goes for my SIL who owns a spa. People sure aren’t willing to cancel their Botox and laser appointments!! Geez people...stay home!
