I haven’t gotten mine yet. Ex did. We agreed he would count the kids at his house as thats the address that their licenses have. So he filled his out and He said he won’t claim DS as it says not to claim children who live at college. I argued with him because no one is at college now & certainly wont be counted as such.
So how does that work? Will the country just not count thousands of college students? WTF

From 2020census.gov
"College students who live away from home should be counted at the on- or off-campus residence where they live and sleep most of the time, even if they are at home on April 1, 2020. If they live in housing designed for college students (such as dorms and apartments with “by-the-bed” leases), they will be counted as part of the Group Quarters Operation. If they live off campus in housing that is not designed for college students (such as a private house or apartment), they should count themselves at that address."
The coronavirus does complicate things, doesn't it?
My 3rd year college student lives in off-campus housing with a by the bed lease. She has lived there since August and is going back as soon as possible (supposed to be taking summer classes - we'll see) so we plan to count her at her college address.

Who knows when they’ll go back? Who knows when their campus will be counted? How would we find out?

I’m just adamant that these kids get counted but I don’t know how it works. Are they already ‘counted’ by their university?

Well I don't know for sure when my dd will go back. But at this point I am going on the assumption it will be this summer or fall. She had spent most of her time in her college town since August of 2017 - so that's where we will count her. Although she is here temporarily, I do not consider her to have moved back home and don't actually expect that she ever will.

Who knows when they’ll go back? Who knows when their campus will be counted? How would we find out? I don't know if this will help you but this is what I read in the L.A. Times: “Currently, the planned completion date is July 31 — but that can and will be adjusted if necessary as the situation dictates in order to achieve a complete and accurate count,” Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a statement. College students are supposed to be recorded at the dorm or residence they would have been living at April 1, even if they’ve been sent home because of the coronavirus. Coronavirus closures upend census plans for counting homeless, college students

My daughter is at campus (until Saturday) and I did mine Friday. I did not include her per the instructions.
I think the virus and impacted kids are going to mess up the numbers.

I'm not sure how the census works in the US. Here, everyone has to do the census on the same night, and you include anyone and everyone who is in your house on that particular night. So if your kid is in your house on census night, that's where you count them. If they are in their college dorm, they have to do their own form. If Aunt Dolly from Timbuktu is staying at your house that night, she gets counted at your house as well. If your husband has gone out on a bender and sleeps at his mate's house, he gets counted at his mate's house. It certainly makes it a lot easier than trying to decide where to count everyone.

I counted my son, because he is home from college for the semester, he's a senior who will be graduating, and it looks like he'll be living with us after graduation.

Yes, that's how it works here. Counted where you are on census night. Also explains why we were counted in the New Zealand census one year! I read an article a while ago saying the next British census, 2021, might be the last one as such if they can gather the information in other ways. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51468919
