I thought Randall was an ass for making his mom agree to do the trial.

A manipulative-as-hell ass.
Whoever called it a filler episode last week was absolutely right!
I dislike Randall intensely.

Randall has really been annoying me this season. He's been so self centered!
Does anyone else feel like Kate has been overlooked in this brotherly drama this season?
Also, I know there are limitations due to Chrissy Metz's weight, but I find it interesting in all of the "Jack is still alive" stories that Kate is still morbidly obese. I thought a big driver for the weight gain was the loss of her father, and the guilt she felt because he went back to rescue her dog. If Jack is still there, why did she gain the weight?

I think Randall will always believe that Kate is going to be fat and was that the guy who was abusing her? And I find it interesting that in randall’s Mind , Kevin is successful and in business with Jack.

I found this to be a very strange episode. All of that to just get to the point where Randall guilts Rebecca into doing the trial. Not one of my favorite episodes.

I had sympathy for Randall at the end. The guy lost every parent he ever had and is now facing losing his mom who he dearly loves. While I don't agree with it, I can see why he is so desperate to do everything to "save" his mom.

If jack survived do you think he would have been the good dad or the bad dad?

While I didn’t like the outcome, I liked this episode. I think the writers are trying to show us that no one is black or white, but shades of in between. Randall sees life as very much black or white, good or bad. And we are being shown that no one is all good and no one is all bad. That humans are flawed and what we see on the surface may not be what we see underneath.
We initially saw Randall as the good guy. He has a loving wife, beautiful children, a good job, and seems to have it all together. Kevin started out the show couch surfing in Randall’s basement with one failed relationship after another, his career imploding by his own hand, and just seems like a mess. Remember how few of us liked Kevin in the early days of the show? Now we are seeing Randall’s carefully crafted life falling apart and we see Kevin step up.
We've seen this with Jack over the years as well. In the beginning, Jack wasn’t working a lot and couldn’t even afford the rent on his apartment. Then he works to pull it together to provide a good life for him, Rebecca, and then the family. We see his drinking almost take the family down, but then he rallies. In Randall’s second scenario , we see Jack supporting Randall and punishing Rebecca for the secret that she kept. We see him drinking and treating her badly for years, all while he seems to support Randall and only Randall. Even Randall’s fantasy recognizes the beast within each of us.

I want to know where Miguel is?
When Rebecca was with Jack in CA, no mention even of Miguel, or did I miss it?
In the what if episodes, I understand it, but If he was Jack's bast friend, it seemd like a mentions of him wouldn't hurt.

Since this was Randall’s fantasy , maybe he is showing that he doesn’t like Miguel? And doesn’t think of him as family?

I liked seeing the what if's , I would have liked to see Kate and Kevin's versions...I did not like that Randall guilted her into the clinical trial.
