In two articles read (one is the taiwanese doctor) , it says using a non woven fabric between the two layers will help filtration, such as the fabric that is used for a wet wipe/baby wipe. What about non-woven sew-in interfacing? And if the idea is worth trying? Light, medium, or heavy weight?

I was also thinking lightweight interfacing would act well as an extra barrier. It’s actually similar to the material we wrap sterile instrument sets in.

I put interfacing in the first one I made and medium was a little too heavy, but the featherweight kind worked great. Then there are 3 layers instead of 2 and one of them is fairly thick, comparatively.

Can you breathe through all those layers?

Can you breathe through all those layers? Yes, even with the medium weight, but masks tend to just move your breath up and out rather than through - or at least, that's what my fogged glasses report. The lighter interfacing feels lighter on the face, probably a bit less protective, but still good.
Bonus - the interfacing helps them keep their shape since I'm doing the rounded ones.

Although some of the other ones I have seen have 4 pleats... Taller people might need that.
