We have a thread going about how many embossing folders we have here . . . so I thought I would give everyone a heads up! Joann's has embossing folders by Darice on sale for $2 each! I picked up a few more that I have not seen in my local box stores. Mostly masculine designs like tire tracks and such. I can only use gears so many times! Even with shipping (if you don't have a email code) they end up being less then their normal price point of $4.99 or $5.99. Have fun shopping!

I've picked up those folders SO many times, but honestly, was unsure because they are so cheap!
Have you used them? Do they work well?
I've bought a machine that I can emboss with, but have never actually used it. I finally have an embossing folder.

I have and so far so good (though I must confess I haven't used all the ones I've purchased yet). Shop away!

I just went and looked. I put a bunch in my cart but didn't checkout yet. I'll see if tomorrow I think I still need all of them. Thanks (I think) for the enabling.

I use my all the time, just made a card for a challenge on my blog, check it out here . . . they work as well as any of the others. I just think that Darice can mark them down because of the quantity that they make, and well they are made in China. All the others are too, but the mark up is just higher.

I have used my Darice folders. I never noticed a difference in the quality. They have a lot more design options in my opinion. Or different designs..not all the small like every one else is doing
Cause how many swirls and curls and damask, and dots does one need

I have only one Darice and admittedly have not used it yet. I have always thought they look not as deep as other brands, thus the lower price. Is that not the case?

I have about a dozen folders. I mostly scrapbook and really haven't found a good way to use embossing folders on my pages. Has that been a previous topic?

I ordered 12 earlier. You may see a thread from me in the future looking for suggestions. I was going to post a list of the ones that I bought; but, my receipt only shows a picture of the first one.

It hasn't been a previous topic that I'm aware of. It does sound like a good topic for a new thread. Oops, there is a thread in Stamping about embossing folders but it doesn't talk about how to use them. I'm not sure which forum would be best to post it in.

I have used them on scrapbook pages, even 12 x 12 sections, by carefully placing the paper to have a mostly continuous pattern. Here is one example: BrothersI have a few others but they are not posted anywhere yet . . .

I can see easily using them in PL page protectors, but I hadn't thought of trying your way, Angel97701. I do two of the same layouts for my two boys and I often have to buy 2-4 sheets of a patterned paper to make it work.

I've bought a machine that I can emboss with, but have never actually used it. I finally have an embossing folder. Is the machine you bought the Texture Boutique? I'm thinking I may purchase this from Stampin' Up!. I love to emboss but don't as much as I'd like. I'm thinking if I have the Texture Boutique I'll be more inclined to remember to emboss. I did just make this the other day and I used my favorite embossing folder.

I have a Cuttlebug and it's not big enough for a 12x12 piece of cs to go thru it unless I folded it. Is that what you do?

If you look closely I cut my embossed paper into 2 x 12. Then I embossed one end and flipped it around to match up the best I could and embossed the other end. If you look closely you can see where the pattern varies just a little.

I have a big kick that I purchased months ago and have yet to use. I am going to use some of the embossing folders that I purchased from the last sale and see if I like them.
The idea of using them for Project Life really appeals to me.
As always, thanks for the inspiration.

Just a couple of suggestions when using the embossing folders... 1. Mist VERY LIGHTLY your cardstock with water (like an arm's length away) and emboss. It softens the fibers in your paper and gives a even more deeper embossing 2. Swap your ink across one side of the folder and then place your cardstock on the other side - close carefully and put through your machine. Open and WOW! Letter Press Effect! Don't forget to wash your folder right away! 3. Embossing your strips of cardstock to create a textured border for your cards, pages and other projects. OK...off to do all those things! LOL!!

I tried another method with my embossing folders today . . . inked first then sanded the ink away so the design would pop. Kind of like using color core card stock. See the card on my blog here. You can also emboss thin acrylic sheets and ink with StazOn.
