Wow, that's a great example of a public servant. I'm so happy you're getting some help and that your honey's home with you. Exactly what I was going to say.

That's fantastic! And I'm very happy to hear that your DH is home, too. Please post your congressman's name. I would like to go to his Twitter and say something positive (regardless of his party lol). Pasco County, FL, Rep. Gus Bilirakis Thank you!!

That's an amazing post. Your congressman can be assured of your vote in the next election. He actually cares about the people he serves.
As for your dh's meds, you'll get so used to administering them that it won't be scary. You have nurses to call and if you are unsure don't hesitate to call them for advice. I've done this many times for myself and it really isn't difficult. The nurses do all the hard work and then teach us well.
Shoutout to nurses who are just the greatest human beings.

Our senior hours include at risk people ( all the stores in my area). Problem is, the stores are not opening that many registers so we waited an hour in line to get through the checkout. I'm sorry. Canb you ring it up with customer service at the store? That's where I began, got nowhere and began raising the issues on their social media pages + contacted their corporate office. They got back to me and said they'd "try" to change it. They had thousands of msgs from other customers with the same issues. If that doesn't work, contact your local government. Our Congressman does immediately reply and is very helpful. Hope they could come up with a solution. I know that grocery stores are under tons of pressure but sometimes they have to think outside the box to make it run more smoothly. On a different note, when my Congressman had his social services aide call me weeks ago regarding DH, she recognized my name. Oops!! I'm not nasty but I'll ask for things to get done. Seems they keep a record of your calls!!

Amazing! I truly hope this is a well deserved break that is sorely needed—if the governor can get the grocery stores to do what you said is needed—you’ve pioneered a very helpful service!!

Bergdorfblond you rock! My local grocery store is allowing immunocompromised folks with those with disabilities to shop early too. They have extra staff on to assist shoppers. The manager stands at the door to greet people coming in & screen out those who shouldn’t be there early. Actually saw him pull a woman aside who was moving through the store too quickly to be safe. Love this store for doing this & thought you’d like to hear you’re not alone & the message is starting to be heard. 🤗🤗🤗

The Congressman texted me to tell me that he was stuck in meetings but he sent his Chief of Staff to shop and come over. She came while I was administering DH's IV meds, so we didn't get to meet.
He followed up with a text and I thanked him profusely. He said, "Just get your husband healthier and take care of yourself too. Your daughter was helpful." We have a freezer and pantry full right now and we're a very grateful family!! Tired but grateful!

It's great to hear your husband is home. And how nice that your congressman stepped up to personally assist you with your problem. That's the way it ought to be.

I just tweeted a thank you to him. It makes me happy to see an elected official helping his constituents. He is at a level that can make Publix change that short sighted policy

Pasco County, FL, Rep. Gus Bilirakis I just looked him up-- he sounds like a pretty stand-up guy. (Republican or not, lol) With 27 bills he authored signed into law between 2015 and 2018, Congressman Bilirakis was recently designated as the Most Effective Lawmaker in the State of Florida by the Center for Effective Lawmaking at Vanderbilt University.

Wow, thanks for that info!!! I get his newsletters and I'm impressed by all he does. He lists #s to call for different causes, how we could help, and how we could be helped. He was doing all he could to get DH a ride to Tampa for his chemo. Good to make him aware of some difficulties. Thank you all for writing to him. This little family is most impressed!! DH is doing well, slowly but surely. I'm getting better at the IV meds. I've been exhausted keeping track of everything though (his stats throughout the day, his cath times, etc...). We're getting there!!
