I've posted on other threads about how I was trying to get Publix here in FL to change their narrow views of limiting separate food shopping to the elderly (65 + here). What about the immuno-compromised whom are younger than 65??? Why can't they be included in this separate shoping? Corporate at Publix insisted a few times that it's relegated to seniors only. So, I called our Congressman.
His office had just returned my call 2 weeks ago to try to help me get rides to Moffitt for DH's chemo. They were so kind and helpful. Now they called me again to respond to my Publix inquiry. I also asked about grocery pickups paying with EBT cards. They are in talks with Publix to expand their rules right now.
The Congressman asked for my grocery list and he, personally, is shopping for us today and he'll drop it off later today. How amazing is that??? I'm blown away by the personal touch, but thrilled about possibly helping those who really need to be safe right now, and those who are only able to pay with their EBT cards.
Hoping for change. Touched by gov't officials personally caring. Just wanted to share.
(P.S.: DH got home last night at midnight. He's happy to be home. I was trained today to administer his IV meds. Taking his stats a few times per day and watching out for trouble. Phew!!)

Our senior hours include at risk people ( all the stores in my area). Problem is, the stores are not opening that many registers so we waited an hour in line to get through the checkout.

His chemo is on hold and he needs to be watched 24/7 right now, but he relieved to be home. Thanks to some wonderful Peas I got him some comfy clothes to wear at home and some necessities. I placed 1 Instacart order. I'm very thankful!! The Publix shopping situation really got to me, so I tried to make a change for other people struggling with their own immuno-compromised situations. They need to be heard as much as seniors do. If my Congressman can help make that change, I'm thrilled for them (& DH or me). If EBT holders could get their groceries delivered right now, then I'm thrilled to shine a light on that issue also. It's been a good 24 hours of trying to bring about change.
