DD had her first virtual dance class today, via zoom. It was 2 hours and she said it went well (she did it in her bedroom so I didn't see). I guess this is how they're doing it now and we'll still be paying monthly. Recital was supposed to be in early June but I can't imagine that happening. Hopefully it will at some point since we've all paid $300 for costumes and recital fees. That's where we are too. I paid the same essentially for 5 costumes, my daughter will be on zoom with her some time this week for solo choregraphy evaluation. not sure how that will work as my daughter has "stunts" in her dance. Can't do those in her bedroom but i am sure there is a lot of other content she can do.

I think she has around 15 between team dances and recital dances, probably close to $1500. I hope I get to watch her dance in them. Our recital was supposed to be next weekend.

That $300 was for 3 costumes. The recital fee is $20 and I don't remember if it was included in that amount or if it was separate-they split the costs into 3 payments, I believe, and it automatically charges to my credit card. The costumes can't be reused for anything because the quality is terrible. 4 is the most we've had to buy in one recital but I don't think they cost as much back then. Some of her classmates are in multiple classes and buy a lot more costumes than we do.

Thank you all for your responses! We are still working at this point (essential), but not knowing if she's still paying the teachers and KNOWiNG that many that attend classes here are NOT working and may not have the same income and resources, the fact that she requests payment does bother us. If she shared that she was paying the teachers, that would make us feel better about paying. But, the fact that she can claim unemployment benefits as well as collect payment from unknowing parents rubs us the wrong way. Everyone has already paid for March and they didn't have classes for over half the month..... I agree with you. I think if you know the owner is doing the right thing, then you want to do everything you can to do the right thing as well. If I still had my job and was able to pay, I would as long as I knew the owner was doing everything they could to do the right thing, too (and it may be that they had to let someone go, but they are still trying). I do not see that there is anything wrong with reaching out and asking and saying that you want to do the right thing and why.
