I have a Silhouette Cameo 2 - Designer's Edition. I work off a Mac desktop, OS 10.13 (High Sierra) - I haven't upgraded because of the 64 bit compatibility issue with Silhouette. I have purchased .svg files from SVG Cuts -- I downloaded them and put them in a DropBox account. Traditionally - when I use a SVG Cuts file, I open DropBox, select the file, then drag and drop the .svg file into the design space of the Silhouette program running on my desktop.
That hasn't worked the last couple of times -- I drag/drop the file, but nothing is there. The file is still named something.svg .. it is where it put it in DropBox -- but it won't open in the design place. If I double click on the .svg name, it opens up Firefox (not my 1st choice browser).
I've sent a question to Mary at SVG Cuts, but I thought I'd ask here - figuring on a sooner response.
Thanks!

This is a stupid question perhaps, but you have unzipped the files prior to trying to open them in the software, right?
I haven’t downloaded anything from SVG Cuts for awhile, but if you previously unzipped the files, and nothing has changed with SVG Cuts, maybe the issue is either Dropbox or your computer’s operating system had an update that caused a glitch.
I have saved all my .svg files directly to my computer, but I also unzip them so they are ready to access. I open them directly from the Silhouette software. I don’t drag and drop. I don’t double click from the file folder where they are stored.
I have never had an issue if I start with the software open, then choose File>Open, then double click the file from there, and it opens in the software.
Have you tried opening an older SVG Cuts file that opened without problem in the past? If not, first try to open the older file your usual way. If it doesn’t open right, that would suggest something other than the file itself is the problem. If it only happens with the newer files, then it is probably an issue with the newer files, and you will just need to wait for a reply to your email.
I hope you are able to access and cut the files you want.
