April 14 will be next month’s craft day. I didn’t think I needed this but honestly, I use my Diamond Press for so many layouts...especially the alphabets. So I guess I need the larger one. Hope HSN offers the $5 shipping...it was a disaster this month.

What is different between the Diamond Press and other manual die cutters?

Well, it’s very small and convenient. I find I use it often. Their dies are sized for the machine but I just used mine with small Anna Griffin dies and it worked just fine.

I think I'll be watching for this. I love my Gemini Jr but sometimes I'm crafting late and the gemini jr is not quiet. I have my big shot put away and don't really want to drag it out every time I want to cut something quietly. I hope the big one is as good as the small one-I don't have it but I know it gets excellent reviews.

The new bigger one supposedly has metal inside vs plastic for the original.

Ok, I've been wanting a small die-cut machine for a while and have had a sizzix sidekick in my amazon cart for ages but just haven't been able to make myself order it (cheesed off about the lawsuit they filed). So, is it safe to say that those of you who have the little one are happy with it and you'd purchase again?

I was never interested in the diamond press since it’s too small for me. I watched a video and the larger size will take paper 4 1/4 wide which makes more sense.

I use my small one a lot....more than I would have expected. I’ve had several over the years because I wanted a certain color when it came out....I use the alphabets for almost any title on a layout. I no longer buy the premade letters. As far as the other dies, honestly I don’t use them often. But I don’t use most of the dies I have which is dumb on my part..

Who is getting this? I have it in my cart along with extra cutting folders. I'm looking for a returning customer coupon but so far no luck.
ETA: pushed the button. 😁

Those that have and use the smaller one, how long do the folders last? I know that it depends on how often you use it, but do they work the same on the 10th cut as they do with the 50th cut? How many cuts do you think you get per folder? Once the folder starts warping, does it effect your cuts or make lines in your paper?

No, the folders don’t last all that long....BUT neither do the plates for the electronic cutters....and the folders are a whole lot cheaper.

I'm using 2 sizzix plates and a self healing mat in my Gemini junior and some chipboard for shims. I have been using it this way for a year now and I diecut a lot and the plates are still perfect.

What self healing mat are you using? I had one made for my sewing table and have leftover pieces but it's kind of thick compared to some self healing mats. Last thing I want to do is break my gemini jr. I guess I could try making a sandwich and compare the height to the original.

I get my self healing mat from HL it's kind of thin that's why I have to use chipboard for shim. Probably yours will be perfect. Please let me know when you try it and can you let me know where you bought yours?

That’s good to know. My jr. plate for the Gemini cracked after about four pass thrus...I still use it as they are expensive.

Well, they had an as-is small version available and I decided to try it (even though it was as-is, it was still returnable) and it arrived yesterday. Loving it. I have tons of dies that are small enough for it and I really like how much faster it is to feed thru a little folder than the big old plates. I am going to have to order refill folders. Has anyone anywhere come up with a substitute for those folders?
I did order the bigger one as well, now I'm even more excited about it coming! Thanks for enabling me.

I bought the diamond press and I love it! It’s not as bulky as my big shot and since I have a Gemini, I have all dies covered!

Mine came yesterday and I opened it up today. It seems very sturdy and it's fairly heavy. I immediately rolled a pretty intricate die through it and it cut like butter. The folder is warped but I expected that.

The folder is warped but I expected that. Mine was so quick and smooth too! I also bought two extra packs of folders so hopefully that will last me a while. I’m looking forward to getting rid of my bulky big shot and all its plates and stuff!

The new bigger one supposedly has metal inside vs plastic for the original. Is this true? I can't find anything that details what mechanics/parts/etc. are inside the Diamond Press Marquise (the new bigger one).

I peeked in the slot but I can't really tell. It seems pretty heavy but I don't know what the small one weighs.

I think that was for the entire bundle from hsn. Including the folders and stuff that came with it. My big one by itself is 3 lbs, 12 oz. I slid a magnetic sheet in there and the rollers, at least, are metal. But those are the only exposed parts.

I got a Spellbinders 6 machine at the Scrapbook Expo in Schaumburg this past August, so it's not like I *need* another diecutting machine, but I wouldn't mind checking out the Diamond Press for portability, ease of use, etc.

Well. After going back and forth, I finally broke down and ordered the larger Diamond Press Marquis (not as the HSN TS, but after the fact). Is was delivered today. But it was not. It was delivered to somebody, but not me. Ugh. And it's sold out, so no DP Marquis for me. Sigh. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I've already contacted HSN, so hopefully it will be refunded quickly.
