I am not talking about medical grade masks.
Will you be wearing them when you leave home from now on?

I think I will, I am the designated leaver of the house and it isn’t like it is going to hurt.

No, we don't have any. I was just in a grocery store and there was only one person I saw wearing a mask.

I have several that I got at Kaiser last year during allergy season. I figure it wouldn't hurt. I just went to Trader Joe's and Costco ~ definitely more people are wearing them. Trader Joe's rocks with their new system of only letting 40 people in the store at a time, wiping down the carts for you and making sure people are socially distanced. Costco has new guidelines too plus Plexiglas shields for the cashiers and the guys that check your receipt at the door. They also had a guy walking down the line sanitizing the carts of people waiting to enter. I had already wiped mine down with wipes that I now carry in my purse.

Our mayor (Eric Garcetti) is pushing a plan to have everybody wear a mask. I started to this week. Today I went to pick up a prescription at Kaiser and 3/4 of the people there were wearing masks.

So far, no. There have been no positive tests in our county yet and only 1 (or 2?) in the county where I do my shopping. I just stay away from people as much as I can (not easy because every aisle had a curbside shopper with a giant cart). Walmart employees are not wearing masks or gloves or anything while they fill curbside orders.

Yes. It may help and it sends the message that I take this seriously.

I just ventured out of the house for the first time yesterday since my surgery on March 11 and I wore an old drywall mask DH found in the basement. Today I had to go to a lab and the ER and I also wore a mask. It just makes sense to me, even if protection isn't perfect.
ETA: It made me much more mindful of where my hands were.

I’m sewing some for my family.
We only leave the house to go on walks though.
We’re doing pick up or delivery for groceries. None of us has been inside anywhere other than our own house since March 11.

Yes, I am wearing a mask and gloves. I saw quite a few masks at Costco today.

It's on my list to make masks this weekend and we'll wear them if we have to go out, other than our regular walks. Our unfriendly dog ensures we maintain a safe social distance then. I'm in Texas and they just said on the news that we're predicted to be one of the next hot spots.

I went grocery shopping for my family on Monday and only a couple of people were wearing masks. My mother asked me to bring her groceries today, so I went shopping again today at 2 different stores - - 95% of the shoppers and all of the workers at both stores were wearing masks. Big change in just 4 days. I didn’t wear a mask on Monday, but did today too.

I’m not leaving the house, so no. DH wore one when he went grocery shopping for us last week, our last one leftover from some spray painting. And he works in a nursing home and we are discussing him starting to wear one there. My mom bought us some reusable (?!?!) N95 masks, I’m not sure I buy into that. But I imagine it’s better than nothing. And I just ordered some cheap bandanas for him to wear over that and switch between patients.
eta: A city in Texas, Laredo I think, now says you have to wear one anytime you go into a public building or at the gas station.

We have a few that dh found at work. Should I save those in the event one of us gets sick at home? I don’t sew. I saw something about making a no sew mask with a handkerchief and hair elastics. That, I could do. Just not sure.

When I went shopping on Tuesday I saw more people wearing masks now than before. I wore one. We are on the upswing of new cases here and they predict the next two weeks will be bad. So, when I go to the store, I’ll wear one. As of right now, I don’t need to leave the house again until next week.

Long Island NY - Yes. My husband and I went out Tuesday for the first time in 2 1/2 weeks and we both wore them. We went to 3 stores and about half the people were wearing them.

I will be from this point on. While packing my hallway closet, I found a package of 2 masks and I honestly had such a strange feeling when I saw them. The first feeling was guilt because they are the N-95 masks that medical personnel need so badly. I know 2 masks isn’t much and had it been a box of them, I would have driven them to my local hospital to share. I don’t even remember buying these. I think I bought them to spray paint something.
I will be wearing one during my next Costco visit. I think I am just going to skip Trader Joe this month. When I was at Costco almost a month ago, the cashiers were wearing both a mask and gloves. Same at the pharmacy when I picked up my meds. Not very many people shopping had them on, but a few did. I imagine it has already changed and I anticipate seeing them everywhere now. And even if I am the only person wearing one, that’s fine with me. I would rather be healthy than feel embarrassed by my caution.

I haven't yet but decided today that I will start. I'll be making masks for myself and my family this weekend. I'm in NJ and the two times I've been shopping, many people wore them.

I haven’t left the house, but if I did, I’d wear a mask. I had a box of N95s from the fires. I gave them away to a nurse and respiratory therapist, but I kept a couple for my husband and I to wear if needed.

They’re pointless if not fitted properly and outside of a clean environment . You need good technique with them as well - most people touch their faces far more with a mask on to adjust it and they moisten after a few minutes allowing germs and viruses to move through them . Taking them off/disposals also needs to be done carefully . Nurse/midwife of almost 30 yrs here and know well the limitations of masks- I’m not wearing one.
Social distancing is the absolute key to avoiding infection, followed by careful hand washing - I’ve trained my children to use the same technique I’ve been using since the 70’s.

No. Not wearing gloves, either, to be honest. It's kinda pointless in my case. I'm wheeling a wheelchair. I touch my wheels constantly. Makes much more sense to just wash my hands periodically. And it isn't as though I can wheel once, stop, wash my hands or sanitize, then move again.
I'm comfortable accepting the risk. I'm certainly following the guidelines from our Provincial Health Officer. Not going out for groceries more than once every week or two - and in fact I am now stocked up for nearly a month. No going to friends' homes, and nobody is coming over (though that is a requirement by our management team at the complex where I live). Social distancing.

So I was just on Amazon and the shipping times are the 9th at the earliest that I could find. So if you want some you might want to order ASAP.

News outlets here are reporting that the CDC is set to recommend everyone wear a mask outside their home. Hospitals and nursing homes are asking citizens to see masks and donate them. Some cities are moving to make it a law that you must wear a mask.
