I'm thinking about doing my Dec Daily album in a digi format this year since after last year I am actually in a position of needing to buy more supplies to make a non-digi album. One of the things I love most about my paper albums in the ability to include all the receipts, to do lists, shopping lists, gift lists, etc that I accumulate throughout the month. Normally I would just stick these in a pocket or an envelope where they are still accessible but not visible.
If you include these sorts of things in your digi albums, how do you go about it? Do you have any examples you'd care to share?

I scan and add them like I would any other digital element. If I'm printing for an album, I add a page protector to the back and stuff it with everything.

stefdesign, did you scan the items and use the scanned image? I know that's probably a stupid question, but I am totally lost and need to learn how to get started.
Also, what do you do if you have an item that is multiple pages, and you want to show more than one page. For example, how would you include a college graduation program? I don't want to include every page, of course, but I want the pages with the ceremony schedule, the page with my son/daughter's name, etc.
One last question -- for now lol -- re: ephemera. What do you do with it all after you scrap it? Do you discard it?
Oops, I thought of another question. What do you do with birthday cards? Do you save them at all and just put them in a shoe box or something? Do you scrap them?

I do scan many of my things. Other things I simply photograph. Sometimes it's a hassle to scan an item- or it might be bulky or awkward. Documents, old photos, programs, etc are best scanned. You are so correct to mention wanting to share multiple pages of a program, for example... that's one of the best reasons to digital scrapbook. It's so easy to do this! Just import in each page separately into your layout, and arrange them how you like. I noticed from another thread that you are a newbie, patti, so I don't want to give you a complicated answer, but know that once you master a few simple techniques, you'll be able to put together simple pages. Don't let complicated, detailed layouts discourage you from giving it a try. The most important basic tool you'll need to focus on will be LAYERS. Understanding them and how to move things around might be the first thing you'll want to learn about. Once you have a grasp of the principle of layers, then all of the other techniques and details can follow.
Back to your other questions: I save everything! I'm pretty bad with that. However, my kids are grown, and I packed up a Rubbermaid box for each of my kids when we moved to the east coast 2 years ago, and gave them to the kids. Now I have just my own memorabilia and all of my family history stuff. And generally I don't keep birthday cards unless they are homemade, or very old. If I have cards from my childhood I save them. Stuff from last year, toss. I don't scrap them. However, I am a collector. I have a collection of vintage valentines and Christmas cards (as well as some vintage wedding and birthday cards too) and I have been known to scrap them. I don't find the contemporary Hallmark-type cards particularly interesting.

Stef, thank you for explaining and for the encouragement. I have an idea -- you can come for a nice long visit this summer and teach me how to scrap digitally? There's lots of interesting stuff to do around here, and the stories about the horrible humidity are lies . . . all lies! lol

My best friend lives in Branson, so she's been begging me to visit Missouri... The idea isn't all that far fetched!

I'm sure your friend has already told you all about Branson, so I won't even try to tell you all the wonderful things about the area! I do hope you get to visit your friend and that you have a great time. Branson is one of my all-time favorite places to visit, and I'd love to live there except for two things -- all the tourists and the ginormous traffic jams! lol Well, if you ever get to Missouri and want to head to my part of the state, let me know. And I promise not to bug you about teaching me.
