I finally have jumped on the December Daily bandwagon. For however many years Ali Edwards has been doing this project, I've ooohh'd and aahhh'd at all the albums I've seen. My supplies should be here next week. I've chosen to use Project Life by Stampin' Up! Hello December because I've got so many ink colors and papers already which coordinate with the collection. My goal in the next couple of weeks is to go ahead and make the pages ahead of time like I've seen Ali do. Is there any other advice y'all can offer? It will be greatly appreciated...

I attempted my first DD last year. It is still not completely finished. Life got quite crazy last December with a new job, selling our home, and getting ready to move to a different state. The pictures and journaling are all in place. I just need to add some embellishing. I plan to revisit it this year when I am inspired by all the holiday festivities. I would recommend setting up the album ahead of time. I made my own kit and pulled together my supplies all in one place. I also made a general list of things I wanted to capture (favorite treats, movies, traditions). The list helped on days that we didn't have a specific event. I did a little embellishing ahead of time (dressing up PL style cards). It helped get me excited about the project.

Plan ahead as much as possible, and print photos each day. And I should probably try to finish 2013 soon....

I'm thinking about doing this too, after my November Gratitude book. I've seen some good stuff on Pinterest for both projects. Thought I'd wait and see if I like the 8x8 format I'm using for the Nov. book, may try something different for the DD.
Good luck, it sounds like it could be fun to do, but getting organized beforehand should make it easier I would think.

2 years ago I used the Simple Stories collection from the year before. I put cards in the slots and made some 6x8 actual pages ahead of time. I also had all my daily number done. What I did was after taking my picture so I knew which way it was going I journaled and each weekend printed the pictures from that week and put them in.
Last year I uses the Simple Stories again 2 yrs prior if I remember right. I actually made all my pages ahead of time (like in April) so I just needed to journal and add the picture.
This year I'm using Heidi Swapps Believe collection from last year. She had the little handbook with like 30 pages in it. I have that, the 6x6 pad and the embellishments all ready to go.

I bought Ali's kit from last year, but I don't plan to do a separate DD album. I'll just include lots of Christmas themed pages in my regular PL album.

So sorry, just saw this! My album ran from Thanksgiving to NYE, so I have a few prompts for those. This was the general list I started with, but also included activities/traditions on days they happened. - Thanksgiving menu - Thankful for - Black Friday shopping - switching out decorations (fall to christmas) - decorating the tree - Starbucks red cups - decorations (favorites, special stories, etc) - holiday gatherings (work, friends, etc) - special/new ornaments ornaments - favorite holiday movies - favorite holiday music - favorite holiday treats - wish lists - receipts/shopping lists - pictures of stores/holiday aisles - Christmas cards sent/received - gift wrapping - handmade gifts - any traveling? - holiday baking - weather - Christmas Eve - Christmas Day - NYE celebrations

I would say plan for the month to get really, really hectic that last week before Christmas! That is historically when my December Daily projects tend to go sideways. The first year I preplanned my pages to some degree and tried to work on it every week. Then that last week before Christmas a ton of stuff all piled up at once and it was just insane. The second year I did one, I tried to be a little more proactive and the same thing happened. I did end up getting both of those books done for the most part. In 2012 I wanted to do one but we had just moved that year and a lot of my stuff never got unpacked. So I ended up taking photos and wrote down some journaling every day but never got the album made. Same with last year, took photos, wrote down what we did every day and that was as far as it got. Eventually I will get both of those books finished, it just won't be this year because I'm finally getting my studio done next month! Everything will be all torn up so it will be a huge mess, and we're going to DisneyWorld in December too. I decided I'm going to be too busy making memories this year! I'm not even fooling myself into thinking I'm going to do anything other than take the pics and write some journaling this time around. Once my studio is unpacked and set up I'll be more inclined to work on my backlog since I won't have to totally put everything away in between.

Keep it simple
When life gets busy, continue taking photos & writing everything down
I usually finish in January. No pressure in December.

Definitely keep it simple. I tend to get over creative and add a lot of bulk. All of my DD's have been just a bit too thick for the album.
Also make sure you set aside a time each day/each week to sit and do it. This is key for me to get it done before January. I print photos at home for this project which makes it easier.

THANKS, LADIES!!! These are some awesome pointers. I completed my foundation pages for days 1-10. I'll be working on the remaining pages this week so I can start next week. Here's the video I made showing what I have so far.
