cadoodlebug , I hope it's Ok that I've calling been calling sunnycalimom to the thread. I just do it, cause I post first and it's on my mind. Of course it's okay, my friend! As long as she gets the link, I'm good! DS got word today that his company let 8% of the employees go and furlowed some others. He's not concerned as he puts in long hours and is a stellar employee. Interestingly, there was an employee with the same name and he was let go. DS was sad because he was a really nice guy.

teddyw, I don’t know yet, I think we will know more tomorrow. We have been allowed to travel, but anyone coming from abroad has been ordered to quarantine for two weeks, and foreigners have not been allowed to enter unless they have been deemed essential.

What does it mean when eggs float? To test eggs to see if they are still good, put them in a pan and cover them with water. Ones that stand on end or bob are okay, but the ones that float to the top and stay there need to be tossed.

Ok. I still have my pickle craving. Can someone please eat a pickle for me? I would love some corn on the cob to go w/ freecharlie 's steak, as well. I love corn on the cob. Until they build houses down the street, I look straight into a corn field (still can see it between the two houses). It is a five minute drive to a little farm that puts out corn on a folding table with a money bag so you can go and get your own corn. The bag has always had quite a bit of money in it and I have not heard of anybody stealing it. I love that corn. It is fresh almost every day during the right season

While dinner is great...I've been thinking about dessert a lot lately. I really want a blizzard or McFlurry or something, but that is far from essential. I've got a brownie mix and some ice cream.
What desserts are you liking?

Im really trying to cook so I appreciate these threads every day! I'm going to make hamburger steaks over mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.
But I have to admit that I'm not really hungry once it comes time to eat. I can get a about a cup of food down and I'm done. Anxiety sucks.

Add me to those who try not to read thread titles while looking for What's for Dinner. While I've never been much of a poster, I've always read....until now. Looking for the positives in life at this point. jeremysgirl - I'm so sorry about your cousin Susie. Prayers for comfort and strength for your family. Such a difficult time. Here's one of my favorite lemon recipes: www.themediterraneandish.com/roasted-vegetables-barley-recipe/ I bought barley to make soup a year or two ago and was looking for recipes to use up the rest of the package. Now I buy barley regularly just for this recipe. Cook the barley in chicken stock for a richer flavor. Dinner tonight will be steak on the grill with oven-browned potatoes and green beans. I don't think there's any ice cream in our freezer but it does sound good!

I made French toast for brunch (wanted to use up the old bread because I bought new yesterday) and now I’m still stuffed. So maybe I’ll just roast some vegetables? At like 9:00 tonight? There’s a quart of coffee ice cream in my garage freezer. So far, I have resisted. scrapmaven, thanks for the recipe. I have a carton of raspberries and couldn’t figure out what to do with them. Perfect. tuesdaysgone, love the new barn painting. jeremysgirl, I’m so sorry. Thinking of Susie and her brother, and you, too.

It's so frustrating not being able to just zip down to the store for an item or 2. Yes, it sure is. Every week I think I have what we need and still seem to miss something. I miss asking someone to pick up the ingredient for me. And the good news of today is that the Government will start lifting restrictions starting next week. Only the youngest kids will be allowed back to school, but they anticipate that all of them will be back before summer. This is hopeful news. I'm so sorry about your news, jeremysgirl , and hope that other members of your family don't fall ill, too. I've loved every barn photo you share, tuesdaysgone! This one is perfect. Thanks for sharing! I've pinned this and love to mix up the grains we use. My favorite way to use lemons is in lemon roast potatoes. I like to cut the potatoes bite size (Yukon gold, fingerling or red potatoes are my favorite), toss in a TBSP of avocado oil* and bake at 400 for 20 minutes. Stir, add 1-2 tsp garlic powder and oregano and roast another 15-20 minutes. Stir, squeeze juice of whole lemon, add salt & pepper and bake another 15-20 minutes. Taste and add more lemon, salt, pepper and/or drizzle of olive oil and serve. *I prefer to use avocado oil when cooking over 375ºF and adding a bit of olive oil at the end for flavor. I also love lemon paired with strawberries or blueberries. Lemon Strawberry no bake mini cheesecakesLemon Blueberry Yogurt BreadDinner tonight is burgers. I made BIL's Greek burgers for the kids (a combination of ground beef and lamb). It is raining too hard to even think about grilling so I experimented with baking them instead. I bake meatballs, so why not burgers? Pickles are out for toppings, along with lettuce, arugula, avocado, tomatoes, grilled onions and mushrooms.

Hi I shopped for the next 5 days. Yay! Tonight I am making steamed halibut, rice (haha), a tray of vegetables and kale salad.
I have never seen the house this clean before. I mean the bathrooms are spotless. I didn’t know I had it in me.
I wish I knew where the sewing machine went because I can sew and make masks. I have the perfect desk for it. I need a chair but there’s a vanity chair in the garage that will work. The sewing supplies haven’t been unearthed yet. I had better get on it. There is some cotton in the house somewhere. It might have bumblebees on it but so what right?

I'm sorry about your cousin jeremysgirl. I had a couple of crumpets for lunch, then about 20 minutes later DSO brought home Hungry Jacks (our version of Burger King) so I had a second lunch. Therefore I wasn't hungry at dinner time. DSO put some hot chicken wings from Costco in the oven so I had a couple of those. So, Costco. DSO went there yesterday to get a couple of things, which is always dangerous. He called me 4 times while he was there: 4:00pm - Do we need any meat while I'm here? What about some steak? I'll get a pork belly. It's $48. (Me: No, don't worry about steak, and I already have a pork belly in the freezer.)4:07pm - There is a 4 pack of wagyu steak, will I get that? (Me, remembering JG's thread yesterday where I talked about how he destroyed his steak by putting BBQ sauce on it last time I bought wagyu - Nah, don't buy the wagyu, it's too expensive.) What about one of those big Tomahawk steaks you wanted to try? It's $74. (Me: NO!!) It will feed 4 of us. (NO!! We have bills to pay.)4:23pm - Do we need eggs? (Yes, get some eggs.)4:28pm - Do we need any flour? There's a 12.5kg (27lb) bag. Do we need rice? What about fruit? (Sigh. Get the baker's flour. Get some brownie mix. Then get the f*** home.)

Oh, I forgot about the lemon recipes..... My signature dish is Lemon Meringue Pie. I have been using the same recipe for 38 years. It is from an old cookbook and isn't on line, so I can't share the recipe. One of my other favourite lemon recipes is this one: Divine Lemon Squares. They are sooooooo good! And let's not forget Donna Hay's Lemon Yoghurt Cake. So many people I know make this, it is always a big hit. As for savoury dishes - The only one I can think of off the top of my head is a Marion Grasby (of course) dish: Chinese Lemon Chicken. And another one of hers that I have on my list but haven't actually tried yet: Honey Lemon Chicken Wings. And if the recipe doesn't inspire you, maybe the video will. She's so cute! I want to marry her.

Delta Dawn. Pretty. jeremysgirl. I thought of you as I was giving my husband his bowl of soup. I top the soup with ham, chutney, and sesame seeds. My husband isn’t fond of the chutney, but he eats it anyway. Tonight he ate it in one bite, just to get rid of it. At one time he would have just sat there and crabbed about it.

I am so sorry, jeremysgirl . All the arrows tonight. And stop by when you can, KelleeM . We adore you. We had hamburgers, nachos, and a big salad with lots of stuff in it. The day was very productive as dh and I both tackled the foyer clutter and neglect. I steam-cleaned the 50-year-old slate tiles on the floor and it looks so much better. Thanks for the thread.
