I have a bunch of embossing folders, but seeing all the cool backgrounds created by embossing paste and stencils has me eyeballing yet another tool that seems like it could be another endless pit, like stamps, dies, and embossing folders.
I have the falling snow embossing folder, but suddenly I NEED the falling snow stencil. Why can't I be happy with the snow I've got? (Funny, I live in south Florida, so paper snow is all I'm getting.)

go ahead and try it. while embossing paste is fun, it is messy, involves cleanup and a lot of messed up attempts. very likely, you will find that embossing folders are a lot easier! and stencils can be cheap, so it doesn't cost much to try. I have to admit that I get excited by something i see online or in a magazine.... but i have not been happy with many of my attempts using embossing paste!

I remember using brass stencils and embossing paste way back (God I'm old) before they invented embossing machines and folders. It was such a joy when they came out with the machines & folders. The paste is incredibly messy and a total pain to clean up. The brass stencils had to be dried very carefully to prevent rust. I had to wear gloves because the paste really irritated my hands. It IS fun if you like to play with messy stuff. I kind of think you probably have to be the kind of person who enjoyed making mudpies and finger painting when you were a kid. I have seen some really beautiful work done with it now days though, but don't think I want to venture into it again.
