First it was the music festival that I was going to volunteer for. Cancelled.
Next, it was the baseball weekend in a couple weeks. Was supposed to have an exhibit from the National Hall of Fame and former players Al Hrabsoky, Lee Smith, Steve Carlton and Ted Simmons.
Now,the state EHC meeting has been postponed. I was supposed to teach. Depending on when/if they reschedule I might not get to teach.
Just when I start getting back into the swing of things, a pandemic happens.

I've quit running over the list of all the things I was going to do that have been cancelled because it's just too depressing.
Hopefully we'll all get back to a 'normal' life one of these days.

So far we’ve lost our second half of March through first half of May. For us that included
3 trips Disney on Ice 2 Broadway shows The ballet Camping A NASCAR weekend, including a really cool driver meet event my kids were super excited about Indy car race weekend The Renaissance Fair 3 museum exhibits 2 birthday parties A dance recital 4 book clubs
Not to mention all the day to day stuff like play dates, art school, family time, brunch with friends.
We have 3 more trips and 2 more broadway shows barely hanging on by a thread. We’ll see.
I’m just super depressed looking at the list. I feel like I can never get that time back with my kids.
I have two events that I organized for 70+ families that now I have to mess with doing refunds for.

We are generally kind of fly by seat our pants people since we retired. We haven't had many things cancelled, but life did come to a screeching halt in some respects. We were going to Costa Rica this summer and we generally hit Vegas in the summer for a few days. We will miss Easter with the family and four birthdays in the next few weeks. To be honest though, I really just want everyone in the family to stay healthy and so I am okay with missing things. I just want everyone to be around when we do come out of this.

I feel your pain.
I had Hamilton tickets for next weekend - cancelled A cruise booked for May 13, that I am still waiting for Royal Caribbean to cancel so they can give me 125% future cruise credit - I'm definitely not going but if I cancel I only get 100% FCC so I need them to cancel it
and a few other more minor things. It's a bummer

Celia, I’m sorry to hear that. I am the biggest Ted Simmons fan and was planning to go to Cooperstown for his Hall of Fame Induction ceremony this summer. Each passing day makes that look less likely too. I really miss my nightly watching of a ball game. hang in there!

St. Patrick's Day - the three associated parades and one event we were to be in (I know this doesn't sound like much, but when you're an Irish dance family, it's pretty much like they cancelled Christmas) Our trip to Ireland as soon as school (was supposed to) let out. That will have to wait until same time next year Niece's HS senior track season - the whole thing - her main sport Niece's 18th birthday party Niece's HS graduation festivities Wedding of the flower girl from our wedding
I am cautiously optimistic that the major music/culture festival that I'm on the board of will be able to take place in September, but reopening states too early jeopardizes that more than just staying closed longer. Festivities surrounding the transition of my employer/company to a new owner 5 dance competitions

If having some events cancelled is the worse thing that happens to you during this pandemic you should consider yourself very lucky. People are sick and dying!

I think cecilia is aware that people are dying and this handslap is unnecessary. One can have compassion for others and still be sad about the way life has changed.

It is not an either/or thing. I have great compassion for all that others are going through, but I am still sad for myself and how every single fun thing I had scheduled for work and personal life has been cancelled, some of them even in the fall. So stop handslapping because people are sad because of what they are missing out on.

I refuse to give up on anything for the summer. Of course the main thing I want to do, I can't control - I'm waiting to see if/when we will get an NWSL season. Once I know I have to figure out a trip to Tacoma or Portland for a soccer game. I have the added difficulty of now waiting for the BC/Washington state border to be reopened.
Yeah, enough with the hand slapping.
As a society the thing we have got to do is push for more widespread testing. We want to get to a point where anyone who wants a test can get one, and it has to be covered.
I hate to sound like I agree with Trump, but we've got to get some entertainment back at some point. And get businesses, in general, moving again. This isn't realistic, long term. We can't, say, put the next season of the NBA and NHL at risk. We need some kind of football and baseball seasons. And I hate both football and baseball. They won't cancel the Olympics now that they've already postponed them to 2021. And athletes need to have proper training facilities.
At some point we have to put the onus on people who are high risk to take precautions as needed, while allowing society as a whole to restart. That will mean things like employers being more flexible re: sick time, for one thing. If you have symptoms, stay home.
Which goes back to my initial point: ramp up testing.

DD's 8th grade class trip to Washington D.C. was cancelled. We were hoping that it would be rescheduled for the fall, like they had to do another year, but the administration opted for total cancellation. She says she's ok with it but I think she's just trying to put on a "brave" face. I'm disappointed for her. DS went in 8th grade. DH and I have always tried to treat them evenly, in their own ways. So, on top of feeling bad for her, I feel guilty that she's not able to have the same experience her brother did. We told her we'll go as a family vacation in the future, but it's not the same as a road trip on a "fancy" bus with your friends and staying in a hotel with friends.
Her 8th grade "graduation" was also cancelled.
DS and his girlfriend bought season passes last fall to our local (1 hour away) amusement park for this summer. So far, the park hasn't made any statements on their plans. DS and girlfriend were also planning a week trip as their Christmas gift to one another, had everything booked, tickets purchased for events while on the trip, etc. I'm sad for them!
As far as myself and DH, we don't have anything planned, but it hurts my heart for my kids plans to be cancelled, even though I know it's for their safety.

I forgot about graduation - though we are, as a school district, still in conversations about whether there might be some options.
I will be heartbroken if they cancel the sandcastle event in Parksville in the summer. Am hoping they modify it instead.
We have all day scrapbooking workshop on May 30. It's already paid for. The space we use, however, is a room in the rec centre, and we can't get in at the moment. The City has currently suspended rentals. It's too bad, because we all have a 6 ft table, so you would think it could be workable.
I am hoping if all else fails they send us the instructions, or we can do a Zoom.
There were a few other things, too, but I can't remember.
I just want to see my darn brother & sister in law & the kids face to face at this point. And see my cousin, her family, and my parents, and aunt. And go to Starbucks with my best friend.
And have ham.

I'm sorry. This is effecting everyone, and while there are always people who have it worse it doesn't take the sting out of our own disappointments.

I'm so sorry. So much disappointment for the majority of people.
I will desperately miss the events that have been canceled in my life and my family's lives. But I honestly fear for the return to normal. Just as we were lied to and told initially that we shouldn't wear masks because they were a danger to us (and then the story changed and everyone is to wear a mask for the foreseeable future), I fear we will be misled as to when it's truly safe to resume activity. Thankfully, I trust our Governor to be honest with us, since he's been making the tough decisions all along and basing his directions on science.

While you're carrying on about your poor little class getting cancelled my kid is at the hospital working shift after shift on the front line taking care of COVID 19 patients without proper PPE and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it. But please, let me stand back so you can get the proper amount of attention for your stupid meaningless little complaint.
