We picked up lunch from my friend’s Mexican restaurant. (“We” = DS, the 11yo, and me.) It made me sublimely happy, both the food and the company. 😊 So I’m still stuffed now, and will probably just eat the remaining house-made chips and salsa for dinner. In other happy news, I was finally able to get four big bags of the German soup noodles I like from Amazon. Normally I buy them at World Market, but it’s closed and refuses to ship my noodles. I ordered some (way overpriced) from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, but they sent spaetzle instead of soup noodles. So I finally found another seller who was still overpriced, but less so and ordered 4 bags and crossed my fingers they’d send the right thing this time. And YES!! My noodles are here. More chicken soup is on the horizon. (Does anyone know what I should do with spaetzle? sueg? jubejubes?) I am only 1/4 Austrian German but I boil and then fry in butter olive oil. Don’t quote me. I am more Ukrainian.

More chicken soup is on the horizon. (Does anyone know what I should do with spaetzle? sueg ? jubejubes ?) I make my spaetzle fresh, as I have a spaetzle press. With my left overs, the next day I like to fry them very lightly, using butter, tossing them in the frying pan (similar to making fried rice) and put gravy over them. I have never tried the dried spaetzle but do see the bags of them in the stores. Strange that you can't find the Bechtle soup noodles at your grocery stores. Even the Walmart here (Niagara, Ontario) has the 500 gram bags of them, very reasonably priced. Thank you. I’ll figure out something to do with them that involves gravy rather than soup. I’m sure they won’t be as good as your homemade spaetzle! As far as I know, none of our regular grocery stores carry the Bechtle noodles. I’ve bought them at World Market here in California, and at an ethnic deli (Middle Eastern? I think) on the East Coast. If I ever make it back to Walmart, I’ll check there. But I have a feeling it’s regional. I can’t find the frozen homemade-style noodles you guys talk about here, either.

JoP I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. What devastating news. I had leftover butter chicken, and the boys did a Maccas run. I asked them to buy me a hash brown, which I thought would go nicely with my butter chicken! Then for dessert we had Passionfruit and Lime Tart that I made after DSO brought a big bag of limes home from where he was working. I have already shared this on the new recipe thread:

Pizza from our favorite place! They usually don’t deliver but they are now and we want them to be there after this craziness ends.

AussieMeg, that is an impressive tart. Yum. JoP, ((((HUGS)))). It's so confusing to lose a friend. I keep expecting my very close friend to call me. May your dear friend's memory be for a blessing.

They make the best egg noodles. I have a question. Is it kosher to cook egg noodles in chicken broth?

But if/when I run out of soup noodles, I’ll try the spaetzle in my chicken soup.
