About 8 weeks until Christmas or 60 days, if you are really counting.
Are you ready?
I really like that Canada has Thanksgiving early in October so that there is enough time/space between holiday dinners. Also, when you pick names at Thanksgiving, you have at least 2 months + a couple of weeks to shop for the name you picked.
How is your countdown to Christmas going?
Me - I am almost finished.
Have to start the baking as my cookies freeze well.

I'd prefer to have Thanksgiving closer to Christmas -- I like the way American Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season.
I've done a tiny bit of shopping. Not much. I stopped baking loads and loads of cookies a few years ago... now I just bake some special stuff throughout the season and we enjoy it over the holiday season. We don't have guests that drop in, so I don't need a stash put away or anything.

Am I ready? Don't be silly - there are still EIGHT WEEKS or SIXTY DAYS left - why would I be ready? I did, however, actually buy a present today. This is about as early to buy one as it has ever been I actually like the last minute rush of Christmas. I am not great at keeping secrets and seem to come up with my best ideas when there is not too much time to think, so I am not ready but ready to be ready. Later. In a month or so!

Nope, not ready. Haven't even started. This may sound crazy, but I really don't enjoy shopping for Christmas months in advance. I like summer to be summer, fall to be fall, then I get the Christmas bug and start shopping come November. That said, I like to at least have a game plan in mind by the end of October.

I do the baking for my family. Both of my nieces and my sister-in-law work, and I have my mom's recipes (all the family favourites) and some of them take time to make. My gift to my extended family are these cookies. I love making them and then packing the cookies for others to enjoy.
None of us really have any "needs or wants" for Christmas, so this is my special thing to do.

I have started picking up some gifts and getting stocking stuffers. I will do my decorating the middle of November, so I am another who is glad our Thanksgiving is in October (plus I enjoy having it in what is usually warmer weather).
I do not do much baking anymore because dh is diabetic. What baking I do do I like to leave til the last couple of weeks before Christmas. Same with the bulk of my shopping. I am not normally a retail shopper and do not go to malls or stores except at Christmas. So I like to go when eveywhere is decorated nicely, when there are carols playing, and (hopefully!) when there is snow and it is feeling more festive.
Same with my wrapping, etc. I enjoy doing that closer to the date, when Christmas movies and specials are on t.v.
I will start menu planning and picking up things to freeze for our Christmas Eve appetizer all day graze though.
I love Christmas, it is my absolute favourite time of the year. My house is usually decorated a full two months...which is one of the reasons we have an artificial tree.

I have a thing or two purchased and have a start of a list for the kids, but that's it. I'm a Scrooge sort of and don't like the commercial side of Christmas but I do like the baking/carols and such. I wish schools had more time off before the holiday though than after. We get out the 19th this year, will do a cookie exchange on the 20th and then we go to the IL's on the 24th.

We are not buying any gifts this year except for maybe one for our 6 yr old niece and some stocking stuffers. We are going to go on a short trip to San Antonio with my parents instead. No gifts for adults at all.

Christmas will be low key this year, and my kids understand why. I have all the stocking presses for my DD ( much less than usual but she will love them) I thinks she wants a babyliss curl secret as her main present. I have my youngest sorted ( he is getting his older brothers Xbox 360 that I am buying off said son, plus some new games) and my oldest boy wants just one large present for his birthday end of November and Christmas ( playstation 4 ) so I am pretty well sorted really. I will get my youngest something small for his dad, I already bought for my ex sister in law ( ex buys for his brother) and my ex puts both our names down on presents his gets his son and grandchildren. This is probably the most organised I have ever been for Christmas at this time of year, but solely because I have had to cut back so much! It doesn't feel so much fun though

I measure "time til Christmas" not by days or weeks, but by pay days! I have 2 pays to go til Christmas and I haven't started any preparations. Which means my December pay will all have to go towards gifts etc.

My birthday is October 24th, so it is a nice mile marker, 2 months exactly until Christmas Eve. It's nice for Dh to have that sort of reminder/wake up call!

I don't have anything done and the way it's going I'm not sure when I will be able to get started. I love Christmas I just hate all the work that goes with it.

We're getting there. We are starting to figure out ideas for the people/kids we buy for. Our 4 year old is the only person we have actually bought a gift for so far.
We are going out of town next week for a concert and the boys are staying with the Grandparents. Hope to get a bunch of the shopping done then!

I remember two years ago handing out the last bit of candy and turning on the tv and seeing a Christmas commercial. Last year, I saw them the week leading up to Halloween. So far this year, I've only seen a Kmart layaway commercial saying it's not a Christmas commercial.

I've had enough Christmases in my life time that I wish it would just stop being every year. I'd love Christmas if it happened every five years. Now days I just endure it to be polite. UGH! Not looking forward to all the work.

I'm doing fairly well. I have both of the girls' "big" gifts. And I know what ds wants (Lego sets). I've also picked up a few other gifts here and there. Some I've ordered on Zulily and just waiting for them to ship. Other than my kids, we only have to buy for my mom and my in-laws to buy for. Both of them are difficult. I hate just buying gift cards but it's hard finding something they want. I'm thinking about about getting my mom a nice sweatshirt. She's always cold so a North Face sweatshirt or something similar would work for her. My in-laws on the other hand...who knows. I try to think of something but my dh usually ends up doing gift cards for them.
Stocking stuffers are my nemesis this year, especially for my ds. I started a thread here and got some ideas, so I do have a few new ideas that I want to look for!

I have my card idea narrowed down to two options. Hoping to finalize plans this weekend so I can get started making them. I am probably 75%-80% done with my shopping. I'd be further if my inlaws would exchange names and lists earlier. In terms of Thanksgiving being the kick-off, I tend to think of Christmas as a month-long holiday that starts when Santa arrives at the end of the Thanksgiving parade. So really getting started around Halloween isn't that early.
