While filling baskets tonight, i discovered that i was missing a large bag of candy that I ordered in March from Wal-Mart.
Look around my room, can't find it.
Get a nasty pit in my stomach. Did it ever arrive?
Checked my account.
"Delayed"
Well, thank you very much. No emails about the delay. Everything else arrived.
Ultimately my own fault for not checking earlier, but damn.
Now I'm worried the baskets look sad & skimpy when they are usually ridiculously overfilled.
Anyone else have a vent?đ

My DD is trying to make cheesecake for the first time tonight. I told her cheesecakes are not easy to bake, but she's never met a baking project she didn't love. Unfortunately, after a couple of hours of work, the cheesecake refused to cooperate ( ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ) and ended up on the floor. Never one to back away from a challenge, she's started again (at 11:45 p.m.). Ah, the persistence of youth!

Well, if it makes you (or your DD) feel any better, Legacy Girl, my DD & I just finished the last stage of my traditional Easter bread, but I was using a variation of my usual recipe and it looks like the consistency is off - the add-ins after the first rising made it gloppy, so the 2nd rising may not happen. I shaped it and put it in the fridge to rest and (hopefully) rise overnight. We'll see in the morning what sort of shape it's in...fingers crossed, but I don't honestly think it will rise like it's supposed to. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

I got a big combo bag of Swedish fish/ sour patch kids for Easter baskets. In a bag of 50, there are exactly one... two... three, three sour patch kids. âĄïžAhhh ahhh ahhh!âĄïž One for each kid.
Great âcomboâ đ

Now I'm worried the baskets look sad & skimpy when they are usually ridiculously overfilled. Anyone else have a vent?đ I did a Target drive up order a couple of weeks ago that was supposed to have Easter baskets, plastic eggs and candy, along with some other items. Because of covid they, of course, did not hand the order to me nor did I get out of the car. They just put it in the back so I didn't look at it until I got home. Missing the candy and eggs. But Target customer service was great and gave me a credit for the missing items so I just re-ordered and picked up the next week. jenjie - Don't you love it when it all works out? I searched high and low for those Nestle Crunch eggs that my girls like and lo and behold my Instacart shopper was able to find 1 bag on the shelves. Legacy Girl - I have my mother's cheesecake recipe that is foolproof and delicious. If you want me to share it with you, I am happy to.

We left a note at the top of the stairs for the kids to not go downstairs until we are up. Of course they did to peek at their baskets. I'm annoyed but they didn't open anything, just ran down and then back up.
DH is being pissy pants and has checked out of the day. Ignoring the kids showing him eggs. Walked right by me as I was making breakfast and made himself a shake and the right back upstairs.
So, this is going to be a FUN day for me.

i didn't clean up yesterday. i am just kinda over it. we laid out a bunch of sleeping bags and stuff to watch a movie last night. i baked cornbread. everything spread out everywhere.
i found (score!) plastic eggs last night, had bought candy several weeks ago when this was just a ripple on the other side of of the world and didn't bother looking at it again. as i have been in the stores, i kept thinking "wow, easter stuff is wiped out, glad i am set".
finally went to fill eggs last night. i was not set. no mini-eggs, everyone's favourite. oreo eggs, kitkat eggs, mix of dairy milk/caramilk and creme eggs and smartie eggs. no mini-eggs. pretty sure at least one of the 3 doesn't like kitkat. sigh.
so i am made up the eggs and thought, kids will sleep in, i will hide them in the morning. came downstairs to wreck of a house. i have some cleaning to do BEFORE egg hiding can begin.
but priorities are cup of tea and some peaing *first*.

I just did candy and snacks in the baskets this year. My kids are 17 & 15, so theyâll be fine. DH got up this morning and said he didnât know we were doing baskets this year. Well didnât realize we needed to discuss that. He said he felt bad bc he didnât do anything for my basket. I had a feeling so I had already accepted it. Kind of sucks but hell thatâs par for the course right now.

I ordered my candy/basket online from Target so couldn't get a feel for how full it was.
The little items, small wrapped chocolate eggs/jelly beans, etc were way too much. I put half of a bag (still in the bag) in the basket.
I didn't have enough of the bigger items and bought too large of a basket.
I tried to order a bottle of wine also but Target won't allow that.
DD is 26 so hopefully she won't mind. Brought it over to her place yesterday.

I bought a ton of candy thinking I might do an egg hunt for my boys, even though they are 12 & 14...sigh...can't find the eggs. So I just dumped most of the candy in their baskets. However, as I'm typing I'm hearing thunder, so it's all good!

Well...we didn't dye eggs yet. The baskets are out and they have some plastic eggs with candy inside. I work at a 911 center all weekend, so my oldest daughter is going to dye eggs with them today. I guess better late than never,

My vent is that I won't be with my nephews. I made them Easter baskets before this whole thing hit, so I'll go over and set them on the porch. It is pretty cold today or at least I would get to talk with them outside. Two are teenagers and one is ten, so it isn't a huge deal, but I am bummed. Their mother is so disorganized that she often forgets to get them anything, so I always make sure they have a basket.

While I bought a ton (too much!) candy for the kids' baskets I did't realize till I was making them at 6am that there was almost no chocolate....just the small bunny each and some of the smaller Reese's PB cups yet like 5 bags of jelly beans ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Oh well. I'm so not feeling Easter this year and if ds9 would just admit there's no EB (he has to know by now, right?!?) I apparently only have on jell-o egg mold. I must have borrowed some from my mom in year's past. We are now having jell-o eggs, brain, footballs, and football helmets. I could have looked for the eggs and filled them, but no one truly cares in our home anymore. I separated the Easter treats into gallon sized bags. Then there's that one bag that has a few things from Dollar Tree I can't find anywhere.

It is myself, DH and my 21 yo ds. I knew I hadn't bought stuff for his basket and so I suggested we do an easter egg hunt in the house. We did. There are still 2 missing eggs and we decided that when they show up, they show up! LOL Not as successful as I hoped but it's not the weirdest thing going on right now, so it's all good. Dh and I decided no baskets for each other. DS got a Moxie shirt I bought a while ago, lots of candy and a little cash. Skimpiest basket I've ever made, but he's 21. He probably doesn't even need one anymore.
I brought my dd her basket yesterday. It sucks not being able to spend time with her and at least hug her. That is my vent. I miss my dd. It's just not the same not being able to be face to face, as I'm sure everyone knows!
Keeping with the "new" Easter traditions being made this year, we're grilling steaks with french fries, deviled eggs and carrots for late lunch. Cherry pie for dessert. Trying a new pie crust recipe. Should be interesting! We usually get together with a large group of friends. I miss them but it is what it is.
Happy Easter everyone!

Having a very scaled back Easter this year, and no eggs to hunt just some in the dining room scattered with the baskets. Was going to put some cash and hide three golden eggs out front for the tween/teens to find when grandma drives by this afternoon. Go to get the golden eggs out of the bin, 2 complete and one missing half. No idea how that happened or where it is. Crud. And many of my hard boiled eggs cracked and some felt like they were a bit soft...not sure what happened instant pot. Whatever. Happy Easter! đŁđ°

They are ridiculously easy (not to mention faster) to make in an IP. The only thing is you need a springform pan small enough to fit inside, or I suppose you could make individual ones in mason jars or something...

Donât feel bad, mine never gets me stuff for Easter or for stockings at Christmas so I do them all including the ones for myself. Iâm okay with it because that way I get exactly what I want! Mine organized the snack and cereal pantry a little over a week ago and he freaked out at the various open bags of candy in there. He said, âYou are FORBIDDEN from bringing any more candy into this house!â ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/pd7N3dneptLj3pbgz5Gd.jpg) Sorry, dude, the Easter Bunny doesnât play by your rules. And just to drive that point home, he was the only one who didnât get a gold foiled Lindt bunny in his basket!

My Easter went pretty well. The only bad things are that no one thought to take any pictures of me and I was all dressed up and wearing little heels for the first time in forever. My son told his wife to put the Easter dress back on the baby so I could have a picture with her, but it was way past nap time and she was over it. Same thing happened last year. I got the photos at least but she looks so unhappy when she's really just exhausted.
My DH was unable to find the hyacinth I get every year, and as a result he go me nothing. Oh well.
Lastly, my brother begged me yesterday to come up and take over care of our mom, and I was all set to leave in the morning. He called just as I was putting dinner on the table and said she is back at the hospital. So now it is just wait and see when she is released.

My youngest (16 at the time) was concerned that since we were out of the country, the Easter bunny wouldn't know where to send his basket. I told him the Easter bunny stopped giving baskets to people when they were old enough to drink. The all-inclusive didn't know the word minor. Ha.

Took my great niece a basket this morning and she waved and blew kisses from the front door and yelled âwindâ at me. (It is super windy and snowy today) She is 18 months old and her mama looked sad that we canât do the traditional Easter egg hunt. Which would have been a hunt for only her since the other âkidsâ are big.
I sent her mama a note and told her I was collecting plastic eggs and we would recreate the egg hunt when we are all back to âtypical.â This made the mamas day and she now has something to look forward to.
