Holy moly.
My hot flashes seem to be on the rise. Not exactly the time you want that! Especially during the night. You wake up disoriented and then your brain goes crazy.
Hot flash or fever? Do I have it? Was I not careful on my last outing?
oh it’s gone, just a hot flash. Dammit now I’m cold.....
🥵🥶🤯

I hear you. I wake up in the middle of the night with a dry mouth and tickle in my throat and have the urge to cough. And then panic thinking I have it. Until I take a drink of water and the urge to cough goes away.

Until I take a drink of water and the urge to cough goes away. I swallowed a cookie the wrong way yesterday and chocked on the crumbs and had a coughing fit. And the rest of the day I had a bit of a cough and heaviness in my chest. Combined with hot flashes I was close to locking myself in a spare room! Lol

Yeah. All day long! I thought I had survived this stage, but a year later, we're back on.

Mine ramped up a few weeks ago, just before I was due to fly back to Germany from Australia, and just as the COVID issue was heating up as well. I was so afraid that I would have a hot flash as I went through a screening point, and they wouldn't let me board due to fever.

I try to think of the upside, no more menses. However, when I'm having a hot flash it's just miserable. I'm almost 3 years post menopausal and I still have them. One acupuncture treatment will stave them off for a few months, but I am not doing acu during this time.

Mine have gotten worse lately too. I've had them for 10 years now. When oh when will they end? Last time I checked with my doctor he said they can last up to 14 years! Ugh!!!
I wonder if anxiety can make them worse? Like anxiety over this situation we're all going through?

Yes. I can't get my sage and EPO supplements at the moment, and I've been rationing them. Apparently that is a bad idea.

I'm having an increase in my perimenopause symptoms too. Night sweats and irregular periods/spotting. I hate it.

All of you hot flashers have my utmost sympathy. That was absolutely the most horrible ten years of my life (yeah, ten damned years). I was over the moon when they stopped and my life went back to normal. So was my family, I was a bitching bitch when hot flashing.

Mine too. I was on the patch and then for two weeks when I took the patch off it looked like I had a burn under where the patch was. So I stopped it. Things were fine for about 4 months, then about 3 weeks ago, BAM! 10-12/night.
Last night I caved in and put a patch back on. We will see how it goes.

I'm now 73 and I still get them sometimes. Not nearly as bad as when I was in my 50s but yep, I still get them. I must have been really bad when I was young. Ha ha!

I wonder if anxiety can make them worse? Like anxiety over this situation we're all going through?I had this exact thought today...wondering if stress can exacerbate them?! Had a hysterectomy last April (had my ovaries removed at that time also.) I had what my MD referred to as hot flushes because they weren't too bad, not like the full on hot flash people describe. Anyhow long story short i've done well and can't complain too much about them. Until the last week or so i've noticed I get them quite a bit more than normal. At first I thought it might be alcohol since we'd had drinks a couple nights that week. But haven't had any alcohol this week and i've had a lot of them today.

It has to be anxiety driven. Has to be part of it or maybe diet? I haven’t had a period since November but now I’m realizing I’m having hot flashes. No thank you! Of course my diet currently sucks bc I’m home and get the munchies but more so bc fresh food is limited.

It’s a good reason for a telemed visit to your friendly local gynecologist!

Do I have it? Was I not careful on my last outing? oh it’s gone, just a hot flash. Dammit now I’m cold..... 🥵🥶🤯 I get ya!!!!!!! I was supposed to wean off of my estrogen about 2 months ago. Bad timing--DH was going through more medical trauma and I figured, "now isn't the time for this......." so I stayed on. And then this pandemic happened and I knew I couldn't deal with my constant hot flashes, changing sheets and my pajamas several times per night, changing all throughout the day, etc......... feeling red hot and then freezing. Nope............ As risky as it is, I'm staying on the estrogen for now. I just got a mammography to feel safer. I'll get off of them as soon as things settle down........
I was supposed to come off of my statins too since my cholesterol has been good. Then I imagined that I was having a stroke, so I went back on. It's a baby dosage. Not the right time to be preoccupied with my own little health issues. So, I agree with you!!!!!!!! Can you take anything to ease the hot flash and side effects?? I'm sorry.

I wonder if anxiety can make them worse? Like anxiety over this situation we're all going through? I think anxiety plays a big part. My hot flashes were almost gone until the virus got to the US. Now, I get hot flashes all the time! They usually start if even a small thought of the virus enters my brain. Actually, I can feel one coming on now just by writing this!!!

I went to Michael’s right before lockdown to stock up on some craft supplies. I have really bad allergies and, what I like to call, an old man smoker’s cough (even though I’ve never smoked). I’m also perimenopausal. I was trying SO HARD to not cough...but a few little coughs escaped now and then. Then, I started having a major hot flash—turning bright red and sweating. I high-tailed it out of there so fast! I just knew people thought I had covid -19!

Yeah, I'm on year 10 or 11, and they've ramped up again. I think it's probably a stress manifestation.

I swear, sometimes I think men get off so much easier, but then again I'm glad I was born female.

I haven't had any alcohol since this all started so I don't think it's the alcohol. I think it's the stress. My hot flashes were pretty much under control even though I've only been using Evening Primrose Oil as long as I didn't miss a dose or two before this pandemic started. Now I'm flashing at least once an hour, sometimes twice. Time to reduce the stress I guess. I've been staying away from the news in an effort to keep my stress levels down. Guess it's time to incorporate more ideas.
