I just got through editing and uploading at least 100 photos from today. I am a bit out of control apparently. And you know there is not one image I am thrilled with. DGD looked like a princess, but between being sleepy and being overwhelmed with the activities of the day, there is not one of her sweet smiles. I ended up putting between 2 and 4 prints on each 4x6.
Does anyone else feel like your photo taking is out of control? I do not like excluding any photo unless it is blurry or exactly like another one. I know I need to be more selective, and sometimes when I actually scrap them I am able to be. Just looking back I would be so happy to have many of the photos I take if they were of me as a child with my grandparents and relatives.
DIL put this beautiful dress on DGD that I bought for her, and I had given her little lacy socks, little mary janes and the cutest hair band. DIL used a barrette instead and put polka dot sneakers on her. She likes to combine the casual with the fancy. I was just happy DGD got to wear that dress before she outgrows it! Many of the photos are like this one - bad angle pensive expression. But I am printing all of them.

I think it's adorable! She looks like she's working hard to find eggs. I didn't take any photos.

she's super cute!
I've been trying to be more selective about how many photos I take - especially now I'm dealing with the 10s of 1000s of photos from my mum - it's overwhelming.
Easter pictures this year...18 between baskets, egg hunt, and dinner plus another 7 from egg decorating last night and DS sent me two from his dinner today plus one of the dinner his neighbour dropped off (so sweet). I'll probably end up with a doublepage egg decorating layout, a single page basket, a single page egg hunt, and either a single or double for dinner plus the 2 single page layouts for DS's album. I expect to print 4 basket pics, 2 egg hunt, 3 dinner, and 5 egg decorating plus all 3 from DS so 17 photo prints in total.
I suspect once I don't have kids at home and before grandkids come along - Easter will fit nicely on one layout.

@myboysandme- I feel the same as you. Especially when my whole gang is here: I take tonsof pics, but bad angles, didn't get a pic of everyone, we are all just sitting around or .....( fill in the blank.) What helps me most is to not view the pics for awhile & come back later. It seems like I can easily pick out the better photos. I may do that 3/4:times until I've culled them down to the best pics/ manageable lor. I also try to remind myself to get down on my DGS &; DGD eye kevel...but then it's hard to get back up! Lol BTW- that's an adorable picture. She looks intent on finding those eggs in her beautiful dress.

myboysnme That's a lovely photo! She looks beautiful in her dress. I've given up on perfect photos. They just will never happen for me. I took less photos this Easter than I usually do. I didn't bother begging anyone to be in the pics. I took a few of egg dying on Friday. Took a couple of the kids finding eggs during the hunt this morning. Took a selfie of me & the two youngest with bunny ear headbands in the afternoon because no one would ever even bother taking a photo of me. Most of the pics will be two on a 4x6" print.

At the risk of sounding like Ali Edwards - sometimes you have to accept that the day was how it was. You captured what was in front of you and it’s true, real, natural and to be honest, your beautiful normal in what is a unprecedented time.
The photo that you posted, she looks like a determined little lady in her pretty Easter dress hunting for those eggs! A little girl on a mission.
I think if the angle is something that really concerns you, remind yourself next time to get a little lower. And focus on quality of photos rather than quantity. Rather than snapping away, take the time to look through the viewfinder or at the screen and achieve a composition you’re happy with.

I don't know if you're on social media but I find that choosing photos to share on FB helps me narrow them down -no one wants to scroll though dozens of Easter pictures so I choose a handful to share - sometimes there's one or two that don't make the social media cut but I want to scrapbook any way. I use that method for trip photos also.

I begged DDIL to take a few of the kids, even if it was just hanging out. She came through for me .

I wouldn't worry about the angle or the perfect smile, myboysnme. I find that kids, when they focus on the camera, tend to get physically goofy or give me that frozen phony toothy smile... I prefer to just point and shoot and take as many pic's as I can when they hardly know I am there. On my phone I take live photos and then select the clearest/best facial expression for printing. On my camera, I am like Dory in Finding Nemo, I "just keep snapping..." When my kids were kids, living here, I was using a film slr camera, 12-24-36 photos per roll of film. I worked hard to get each shot framed, and most of my pic's of them are more formal, posed. I love that with a digital camera or phone, I can take hundreds of shots in a weekend, and hope I find that gem in there somewhere. If not, I am happy if I can get SOME photo that helps me tell the story I want to tell. I didn't expect to have any Easter photos, but then things were arranged so that some of the family could safely come here for a couple of weeks, so now I have quite a few. Some are of Easter egg colouring and hunting/finding, but others are of group meal prep and card playing/ jigsaw puzzle constructing, outdoor activities. Then I threw out an Easter egg colouring contest to the other dgk's (sneaky scrapbooking Gramma), so now I have photos from two other households. No idea when I will get them printed. My MO is to select on my phone (or extract my camera card), then go to a Wallmart kiosk and edit and print photos there for one hour printing. I print LOTS of photos and select which ones I plan to scrap when I have them physically in hand.

I don't think I could take 100 photos of a single day/event if I tried. I'm a less is more kind of person and if I've been able to tell the story then all is good. I also don't want more than 1 completed family album per year due to the space they take up so that also limits what and how much I scrapbook.
Everyone needs to find their own sweet spot though.

I only got about 4. I missed the egg hunt. I forgot to get a picture of the table before the meal so snapped a pic after. But I did get a picture of the Easter Bunny joining us before pie. (Yes, we disinfected the table after he went home)

I take up to 10,000 photos per year, so I don’t think you are being excessive.
However, I choose and print only those that I really want to scrapbook. I don’t do Project Life, and I am way behind on my scrapbooking, so I do narrow them down to the very best. If I did Project Life, I’d probably print more pictures.

I tend to take a lot of pictures and sometimes when I'm done I find there still aren't any that are terrific. Sometimes it's the circumstances - people in the way, being uncooperative, or maybe the lighting is sad (often). Sometimes I regret not taking more time to compose and take more pictures, other times I take way too many and can't narrow them down. I agree with patin about letting them stew for a while. Coming back with fresh eyes helps. And I'm story-driven, so if the story is "look how focused she is" or "what a weird Easter" then the best photos are going to be different than "look at the cute outfit." If you want to record the cute outfit and pretty smiles can you go back on a sunny day and do a fake Easter photoshoot? Taking too many photos is not really a problem - we all have our comfort level with that. As long as you are happy taking them, being part of the celebrations not just the photog, and you can cope with editing and cataloguing them all, that's good. Trying to manage my own massive photo library and find what I want can be exhausting, so there's some value in moderation for me.

I always take too many photos, always. I easily took over 250 on Easter. It was us 5, we did an Easter dinner, an egg hunt, a quick drive by to drop off Easter baskets to Great-niece and nephew, and some house party phone calls with several differnt sets of family members. We did a family selfie which took several tries and I love all of them cause they are funny and of course my usual pic of all 3 of the kids together with their baskets. Pics of prepping the meal together. I really tried to capture all the different facets of the day cause of how different it was.
But in all those pics there where lots of bad ones, duplicates, and need to be weeded out. Bad lighting, someone looking the other way, people not cooperating, which is why I take so many to begin with. I would rather have allot then not enough cause I can easily delete.
Of course I don't print all them out. Maybe 50 will make the cut? And all of them won't be about Easter either.
