I didn’t get the April kit, but I did get the beach heroscape stamps/dies plus the surfs up fancy dies. My ds has really taken up surfing on our recent trips to California, so the surfer and wave stamps and dies are awesome. Wanted to share for our Australian peas, peas who have visited Australia, and peas like me that have beach or surf pictures to scrap. Also, there’s not a palm tree in sight—so maybe it’d work for Northwestern US peas? heroarts.com/collections/mmh-april-2020/products/my-monthly-hero-kit-2020

Hmmmm. I'm going to say something that I understand may not be received very well. But this feels a little distasteful. Not so much the collection itself, but the timing and the blurb attached. The areas, the homes, the businesses and the families that were devastated by bushfires in Australia are now suffering extra hard from the fallout of COVID-19. So for me personally, this looks and feels like a company that is profiting off the suffering of a very specific and hard hit group of people. This is something I felt pretty strongly when I noticed a few foreign designers putting out Australian-themed designs at the start of the year for sale. There were some who committed to donating all or at least a portion of their sales to those impacted by the bushfires. But there were others who didn't. It just feels very wrong to me.

In my opinion, they were always planning to launch this Australian-themed release which I think is odd anyway for an American company - no idea why they would think an Australian themed release is a good idea for a kit subscription - and have had to scramble together a description that is sympathetic to the Australian fires. They probably planned and started production on it before the bushfires hit. It's distasteful for them to connect this launch to the Australian bushfires and not make a donation to a charity - unless they have and they just haven't made it clear. Odd choice of release in my opinion along with bad wording and bad timing. It will leave a bad taste in many people's mouths.
