I prefer pancakes. At home I prefer Bisquick mix and cool whip.
Waffles are ehh. I never order waffles out. If I eat waffles I prefer them with strawberry ice cream. This is how my dad serves them and we call them "my maiden name" waffles even though no one else in his family makes them that way.
I don't like maple syrup, even the real stuff.

Pancakes from scratch. Blueberry pancakes or if I'm feeling ambitious I'll make either caramelized peach pancakes or banana macadamia. And I make a heated rum maple syrup and serve with a side of sausages to counter the sweetness. Add a mimosa and its a perfect morning. Hmmm. Now I think I have to make a batch of banana macadamia nut pancakes tomorrow morning.
Fun fact - I was an adult before I found out that many people have pancakes for breakfast. In my family they were served for dinner with sausages and sometimes baked beans. But they were a slightly thinner less bready pancake than the American style ones. They were almost heavy but so delicious. I've asked everyone for my mother's recipe but it seems to be lost forever now.

I like both best with peanut butter, banana, and real maple syrup. Second would be with strawberries, syrup, and whip cream. I only like pancakes and waffles drown in stuff.

Small ones, with a thin coat of peanut butter...

We have been having waffles, pancakes or french toast for dinner once a week.
My kids eat peanut butter on the waffles & whipped cream on the pancakes (no syrup).
I am not a huge pancake fan but I make Pioneer Woman sour cream pancakes & they are delicious!

I’ll eat both but I like waffles better than pancakes (and I like french toast better than either). No butter, real maple syrup only and not so much that they’re drowning in it.

I prefer pecan waffles. We have been using Kodiak protein pancake and waffle mix lately and it's really pretty good.
Pour batter into pre-heated waffle maker then sprinkle chopped pecans on top so that the pecans get toasty (don't mix into the batter.) Medium-lightly golden.
Plenty of butter and light maple syrup.
Pancakes need to be small and lightly golden, lots of butter and a good dose of maple syrup. No add-ins.

I always make my pancakes and waffles from scratch. (It is so easy and they taste so much better than from a mix). Buttermilk, in my opinion, is the key ingredient.
A couple of years ago we bought a really great Breville waffle maker. The waffles turn out perfect every time.

Oh that sucks, I’m sorry you lost your mom’s recipe Now I think I need to make some of those pancakes and syrup! Are they recipes you are able to share? We still like pancakes for dinner sometimes. Or, you know, at midnight when DH just has to have Denny’s.

I love waffles made from the Carbon Golden Malted Waffle mix. I top them with a little butter and real maple syrup and some walnuts. So good.
I like pancakes as pigs in a blanket. I dip them into a little bit of syrup.

I like mine smothered in Maple syrup...and then I love to sop up the extra syrup with either bacon or sausage. I actually probably prefer the meat in maple syrup more than the pancakes or waffles if I am being truthful, though.
ETA - must be real maple syrup ( preferably some my dad boiled) and no fruit other additives.

Don't like the texture of most pancakes and will not make an effort to eat waffles. But, I really like syrniki, Russian cottage cheese pancakes. If made right, there are little stretchy pieces of tangy cottage cheese embedded in a lovely light batter. My grandmother used to make the best syrniki and serve with raspberry preserves.

Waffles or pancakes with warmed real maple syrup, butter, and walnuts.
Since I’m training for Carb Eater of the Year, I ordered these from my farm share last week: "Maple Sausage French Toast (5 Full Slices) Scratch made maple bread with pieces of breakfast sausage, double dipped in a crunchy coating," and had some this morning. O.M.G.
