I am the crabbiest ever if it rains when we are at the beach and we can't do anything. Rain while you're at the beach is like someone popping your balloon. It sounds ideal to me, especially if it’s a thunderstorm. The sound of the storm and its affect on the waves? Add in my DH, comfy seating and a book? Calgon take me away.

I don't know and it makes me sad. I love travelling and now the future looks really uncertain.
I cancelled my July trip to USA. I don't think I'm going there for a long time, not until there's vaccine. I have no idea when it will be safe to travel in Europe but I doubt I will going anywhere this year.

That's what my husband wants to do, go even if we can just sit on the balcony. I'm not sure if I want to go if we can't do anything. But I could get a lot done at home if my family is at the condo! ![](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I am the crabbiest ever if it rains when we are at the beach and we can't do anything. So I would not be fun to be around! I called the condo resort. The condos are open; the rec room is closed and all of the activities are cancelled (bingo, pool table tournament, ping pong, wine & cheese). But, I checked with the City and the beaches are closed. So no just sitting on the sand. My DH is worried about the room not being cleaned properly and we pick up the virus off of something in the room (which has never been in issue in the past) You could clean and disinfect when you got there, take your own pillows and don’t have housekeeping come in while you’re there. If you checked in later nobody is likely to have been in the room in over 3 hours which is as long as they think it can linger in the air. You might want to check and see how the air intake and circulation is set up, see if it goes between rooms. But even with all of that I imagine there’s a possibility he’d still be worried about it and not able to enjoy himself, anxiety isn’t always logical. This is just so hard all around isn’t it?

I’m really hoping we can still travel this summer - not flying but road trips. I want to do our trip to the high Sierra in Yosemite (which isn’t crowded like the valley) and I want to do a road trip through the four corners. We have Yellowstone booked for early June but I’m assuming that is off and will probably cancel anyway. I think it will be winter before I even think about flying anywhere. Does anyone have any prediction of when road trips will be ok? I’m hoping early June I don't know where you plan to go on your trip, but the Navajo Reservation has been hit very hard by the virus and I would think June would be iffy. I was reading somewhere else that someone's tour at Mesa Verde in June was cancelled. And even if things are open, I expect restrictions will be in place (I.e. shuttle buses in National Parks might not be running, reduced services).

We had summer plans with nothing booked yet, but won't be taking that trip (1.5-2 weeks in NY, a wedding in Raleigh that was postponed, and two weeks in Nebraska with my parents - they are at risk and I don't know if my dad would even let us into the house at this point, lol).
We are supposed to fly to Western NC to visit my husband's family in October - but not booking anything for that either.
The one thing we might do is a backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada in July. Provided it is open. We would drive and have limited contact with anyone so I feel okay going.
Otherwise, everything is wait and see. I am a little more pessimistic about the virus.

Our Italy trip that was planned for early June is obviously no longer going to happen. We really just want to go somewhere and are thinking of driving to Idaho. It’s about 11 hours and my dh is not much of a road trip kind of person, but he must be feeling a bit claustrophobic as he’s excited about the idea. I think we will look for an Airbnb the second half of July that has a flexible cancellation policy. I think we could avoid crowds for the most part and still feel like it’s a vacation.

I’m pretty sure summer vacations are a “no.”
Taking bets on whether we’ll even have schools open in the Fall.

Summer vacations won't happen imo.
We have our 30th anniversary this September and we were (are?) planning a nice beach trip but hadn't booked anything. We're getting promotions etc sent through that have a free cancellation clause so we may take a punt on something if we see a great offer with that proviso...more than likely though, we'll wait and see how November/December/Jan are looking by the autumn.

We had reservations for California in late June. Yosemite and Lake Tahoe were both on our itinerary. I haven't canceled yet, but I know I need to.

I’m not looking to go any where anytime soon but I desperately need to see extended family!!! THAT is how I’ll spend my vacation this year. If there’s any left I’ll just take off in December
Maybe next summer for places
I’ve crossed the fall leaf peeping cruise to Quebec off my bucket list. Too much money to pay for a floating Petrie dish. ( which is why I haven’t taken it I mean, not a great view of the leaves anyway ) But I would still like to take a trip down the St Lawrence seaway ( which was the point of the cruise anyway ) so when all this is over I’ll look into that part.

I had three trips planned for the summer and cancelled all of them. One was in May to London, and that obviously won’t happen. One was July in Maine, and while we decided not to send in a deposit for a rental house or buy plane tickets, if things clear, we’ve left open the possibility of going—I don’t know what will happen by then and I am not optimistic. The final was a family wedding in August in Minneapolis. I am just assuming that isn’t going to happen — that even if we start reopening things, large gatherings will still be off the table — but again, I am taking a wait-and-see approach.

We have a road trip vacation planned for August. It’s in a remote area, on a lake away from a lot of people. It’s an 8 hour drive, which will require 1 gas stop and a couple potty breaks. It should be safe by then to go for something like that.

We have a beach house booked for the last week in July, but it looks like we're out the down payment because we won't be going. ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/sad.jpg.gif) The joy for me is actually going to the beach, and going out to dinner afterward, neither of which I'm prepared to do, even if they open in the state we're going to. At this point, I would only do a beach if it were so deserted, I could be guaranteed it wouldn't be crowded. I wouldn't have gone to a theme park or on a cruise before COVID19, but I sure as hell wouldn't go this summer. I won't go to large crowded gatherings until there is a reliable vaccine.

I'm not feeling confident enough to start planning a September/October Myrtle Beach vacation. We already ditched our plans for a late May/early June trip to Aruba. We hadn't booked it, but had been thinking about it since last November when I realized we couldn't take a March trip due to a team member at work scheduled for maternity leave during that time. I feel we got lucky in timing on that one because had we had something booked for March, it would have been just about the time things were just starting to get cancelled.
I am also taking queues from my office/employer. I work at a large university and right now they have extended their cancellation/postponements of all activities and nonessential events through June 19th. We have already been informed that our office will be one of the later ones returning on-site once the stay at home orders are lifted as it has been working quite well for our office with minimal disruptions. I would be surprised if I'm back in the office by August, but I don't work on the academic side or with students.

We were due to fly to California in four weeks time but that has been postponed. We hope to visit in May 2021 instead.
We are hoping to be able to fly to Florida in September of this year instead. We'll have to see how it goes.

I’m not sure, honestly. But in all practicality, we weren’t planning on taking any big vacations again for quite some time. We went on two big trips last year to celebrate our 30th and had planned and paid for them in 2018. Later that year (2018) by a sheer stroke of luck, our lake cabin renovation project that we had been trying for five years to get a contractor to even look at was finally going to move forward. And more importantly, it turned out that the repairs we were wanting/needing to do were much more critical than we initially knew, and we also learned there was hidden damage that increased the final cost of the project by easily 25%.
Needless to say, our vacation budget for at least the next ten years (maybe more) is gone. But now that our cabin has been rebuilt pretty much from the ground up, that is where we were planning to spend any vacation time we have anyway.
If we had known in 2018 what we learned later that our reno was going to cost so much more, we never would have taken those those trips when we did. We would have spent that money on our cabin instead. It’s a good thing that we did take those trips when we did because one of them was a “bucket list” trip for both DH and me, and even if we had the money to do them now we probably wouldn’t go (Alaskan cruise) due to the Coronavirus.

I honestly don't know. Our summer camping plans are on hold, the campgrounds we have reservations at have closed the bathroom facilities. No shower, no camping.
DH and I were supposed to go to Seattle for our anniversary in September, we haven't made any reservations for that trip. I'm not in love with the idea of air travel.
DD and I are supposed to go to a dance competition at Disney in October. The final 1/3 of the trip balance is due May 1. I will be asking what the cancellation policy is for the trip. I just can't wrap my head around anything being significantly different from now to October.

I wont probably do amusement parks until my grandkids are old enough. I've got a while. I'll be an early traveler. My kid is in florida and I will get to him asap. As soon as it looks like the quarantine restrictions are up I'm put of here. Weve cancelled a few trips so far, rescheduled 2 locally but one is for an event and one for a concert in state-is (local trips), one was puerto Rico and we will go in a few months and we cancelled Thailand altogether Large groups? I dont know. For my mental health im trying to not make any plans. Cancelling stinks.

I had been planning a big summer road trip with my kids across the Midwest, but I hadn’t booked anything.
It looks like we won’t be doing it now. We *may* do a shortened version to at least see some family, but I’m not feeling hopeful...

We had planned to go to France in May after my daughter's graduation, but after things changed with her grad school plans and since we couldn't find out when graduation would be for a long time we decided to go in October when I found a good deal on plane tickets.
Now with covid I am really glad we decided against going in June, but now I'm wondering if October will be any better.

I just want to get my hands on the new DGD and her brother and sister. Damn virus. I can give up any vacation if I must, but my first grandbaby is due in about a week. I'll be on the road to them the minute I can. So much has been cancelled or postponed due to this. It just makes me sad to think about it.

Our milestone birthday trip to Africa has been canceled and will not be possible until next summer. Our daughter is getting married on October 3. It's already a small wedding as she's notoriously introverted, but her dream is to take her fiance to her favorite place, the Big Island. I'm worried they'll be having a George Bailey type honeymoon. And my sis and I are supposed to do the Disney Wine & Dine 1/2 marathon in November. I'm not so sure that will happen. I should've been flying to Seattle this week to see my DS & DDIL. That was a tough blow. I miss DS's big bear hugs. Our wedding is planned for October 3rd also. It's to be a pretty large affair, but I'm holding my breath about it. If the world is still crazy, we will get married now and have the big party when it is safe.

I really wanted to take a beach vacation in Florida this summer, but even if all the beaches are open, I know I will not feel comfortable going. I would be okay staying at an out of the way, not touristy place, because that is what I prefer anyway, but my husband likes the crowded touristy places and would HATE being at a quiet out of the way place, so we won't be going. I am hoping that by Memorial Day weekend that things are on the downslide so I can go to my brother's in Atlanta. I prefer flying, but we drive it all the time, so we will do that if it is safe to do so. We don't really go a lot of places when we are there...just stay out their house and hang out and cook, sit around the fire pit, etc. I will be so disappointed if we can't go there at least some time this summer.

One of my favorite time-wasters is planning trips and learning about those places, so it's frustrating to have no idea when we can take a trip again. Me too. I’m still researching and planning though - and now I am more into learning the history and cultural significance of where we go - I’m reading books on the Pueblo people of the four corners, all the amazing sites in the area and also reading about the mesoamerican cultures of southern Mexico - for when we can fly again Apparently, I’ve found my people. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg) I’m currently planning a trip to Ecuador and Peru and another to St. Malo, St. Michel, and the Channel Islands. Right this very moment, I’m supporting be diving in Roatán - we are hoping to use that trip credit for Christmas 2020.

I'm in Central Florida and wearing a mask now is hard in the heat. I don't see how people will be able to do it at the theme parks in August heat without passing out. Same here!

We have two trips planned. One I think might be ok. That's a family trip to Hilton Head mid July. We drive, not fly. So hopefully? If not, we have until mid June to get our house rental deposit back. Dh and I have a trip planned with another couple for a long weekend in CA in mid August. Dh has always wanted to see California and I have always wanted to visit Disneyland (vs WDW which I've been to several times). Our friends are HUGE Disney freaks so dh and the other husband planned it and it was a surprise for us women. BUT they didn't get travel insurance and the flights and hotel are already paid for. I keep telling him to call the travel agent and see if we can get something back etc but he's convinced we can still go. I'm not at all sure it will be safe and the thought of flying and and busy theme park makes me very nervous. So we're waiting and seeing on that too. Your dh is right not to try to cancel. If for some reason they aren't back open yet, you let them cancel you so you get your money back. If it's open by then - and I think it will be - you should go, IMO. Wear a mask. Take the precautions. Then enjoy yourself. I suspect there will be restrictions in place that will address a lot of your concerns.

Dh was like it's hot here too. I'm going, not like it is there. I think this weekend was the point where everyone's switch flipped. DD whose birthday was yesterday had a meltdown last night over just being stuck at home. DH is in a foul mood. I'm also not at my best. This is getting to all of us, but I'm not sure what to do about it other than what we've been doing.

We have already had to cancel one trip this year. We had a cruise booked and then my sister got sick and I cancelled it. The day she died was the day we were supposed to be getting on the ship. I buy a yearly travel insurance policy and we got all our money back for that one.
We have a trip booked late August/early September to Scotland and Ireland and supposed to do a little side trip to Normandy. We don't think that one will happen but we haven't cancelled it yet because the tour company hasn't cancelled it and we would not get our money back. I hate having everything up in the air like this, but it's out of my control. We were making tentative plans for Germany/Austria/Switzerland in 2020 but have put that one on the back burner for now until we see what happens and if we need to reschedule Scotland/Ireland.
If it is cancelled, but things are looking better here, we will probably plan something within the US and no flights. We might just spend a week at our place on the Texas coast but even that is closed right now. After we got everything settled when my sister died (and before the pandemic), we did take a quick week away to South Padre Island. The weather was terrible. Cool and it rained and was cloudy and miserable the whole time we were there. It was not fun. I used to think that I could be happy at the beach no matter what but I found out that isn't true.
I love planning trips. It makes me sad and antsy to not know when we can travel again.

I already had to cancel a trip to Phoenix in June (for a conference that was cancelled) and a trip to Chicago in September, again for a cancelled conference. I know there are worse things than cancelling trips, but it still makes me sad.
