We decided to skip our vacation this summer so we’re out the entire cost of our Delaware beach rental which was to have been for the last week of this month. Delaware is now on the list of quarantine states for CT and their numbers have been climbing, to where they’re now mandating masks on the beach. Don’t know when the next vacation will happen. I’m not planning anything at this point. That's too bad about having to miss vacation and not getting a refund. Will they give you a credit for next summer?
We were in OC, MD for 2 weeks. Well, my youngest and I only stayed a week because she had pom tryouts last week. I was impressed with most people wearing masks (not at the beach though, but in stores, takeout lines). We drove to Bethany and Rehoboth boardwalks, but just walked into a couple stores (with our masks on). I didn't realize they now must wear masks on the beach. Good idea. Are you worried about so many cases or is it because of the quarantine upon return. Our state (PA) requires a quarantine for those visiting Delaware, but not Maryland. It was a combination of things that hinged the final decision. Mainly it was Delaware climbed onto CT's list of quarantine states after their numbers looked pretty good a month ago. But also because I didn’t want to mask on the beach. That suggests to me that the beaches are more crowded than I would be comfortable with. And we we were never going to do the boardwalk/shop/eat out so it was kind of like why bother. We would have been able to get half credit toward a rental next summer before the governor reopened the state June 1. So we won’t unless he recloses the state again. Also, DH is worried about this breathing issue that I developed as one of the complications from my back surgery in March that is looking more like a nerve issue than a lung issue, but still, I guess I should continue to be a little more cautious.

I need to add an addendum to my original statement. I am happy to go as soon as it's allowed. Right now, travel within Canada is allowed, no quarantine required. Thing is, there isn't any place in Canada I want to visit, so that doesn't help. I want to go to the USA. But there are no spectators allowed at soccer games anyway, so its moot. And right now, the Canada/US border is closed, which I am ambivalent about. I am irritated that even if I could go to the US (which, I mean, I could if I flew), I would have to quarantine for 2 weeks when I got home. And realistically, I don't mind that I would have to quarantine.... I could easily do it. But because I'm getting older, I find it easier with the wheelchair to have someone with me so I hire a friend of mine who actually is a private contract support worker for adults with disabilities. So for her to take me on a 2 night/3 day trip, she then has to take 2 weeks off work when we get back... which then makes a hassle for her other clients. It irritates me; it creates an extra barrier for people with disabilities. I have 0% sympathy for someone who can't go to a covid hotspot for a vacation. I'm super happy that a 2 week quarantine is a barrier for ANYONE to cross the border. It's not designed as a barrier for the disabled, it's designed to keep Canadians safe. Let me mention now that I have a member of my family in a wheelchair and I provide 24/7 care. Would I take him to the US now? Hell NO. In terms of travel, I will be travelling in Canada for the foreseeable future. I live near the US border but unless something changes in the next year or two, I won't be crossing the bridge. I am not talking about now. I wouldn't want to go anywhere now. I'm talking a year down the road, because I fear those restrictions will still be there then. Heck I'm fearful they'll be in place forever... I don't believe we'll ever get a vaccine or herd immunity, or ever figure out this virus. It's smarter than us. That's my concern... when generally people are feeling ok about going to Vegas & Disney, I still won't be able to, because nobody's going to have the time to go with me & then quarantine for 2 weeks when we get home.

I have loved everywhere I have been and have been back to some places so many times and can't wait to go to other places. We have a beautiful country. If I didn't live so far north and had to endure such a long cold winter I wouldn't care if we couldn't leave. What do you want to do in the US so badly? Go to a soccer game? The soccer is a big part of it, but it isn't the only part... I have friends there I visit every time I go down. No spectators allowed at the games right now anyway, so it's moot in that sense. It's more that it depresses me because for so long I have seen myself a certain way - independent, which is something I've fought to establish- and I feel like this damn virus is completely robbing me of it. And it's never going to end/go away. I'm one of the ones who doesn't believe they'll ever develop an effective vaccine, because we'll never figure out the virus. It's smarter than us. The death of Nick Cordero has just made me lose hope. This isn't supposed to kill young people with no preexisting conditions.

In the summer, our B.C. wine country is amazing. We already went for a week and it was heavenly. We can’t wait to go back next week. I’d love the border to open when it’s safe but the medical coverage is going to be so difficult I’m not sure we‘ll be able to go. Just gonna keep saving extra $ and pray for the border to open, and a miracle that I'm wrong & they scientists will be able to figure out a vaccine/treatment for this virus. I'll have to have a later 50th celebration; I wouldn't feel good about being in Vegas in 2020 anyway.

Considering the circumstances, sounds like you made the right decision. We were going back and forth on what to do about going to OC. We owed the balance 30 days before we arrived, but we waited a few more days. It wasn't the same not being able to go places.

Within Canada we can travel most places except the maritimes and the North. We cancelled summer vacation but we’re planning a trip to BC for September.
We’re renting a camper van and travelling along the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver island for a week and then going to Vancouver for a few days.
I’m nervous but we’ll be mostly outside and I feel like we’ll be mitigating the risks as much as possible. Plus BC has only about 30 cases a day.
I expect the US border closure to remain for a longer term. In a recent poll 80% of Canadians were in favour of maintaining border closures for the foreseeable future.

I just canceled our trip for September. I want to go to the zoo this week, but I am even wondering if that is a good idea! They have severely limited the number of people who can go, it is one way only and inside areas are closed, but I am still vacillating on if it is a good idea or not. I have no idea when I will feel safe taking a vacation that involves a plane or a hotel stay.

I personally think a zoo, especially the outdoor parts, is okay (and it sounds like the zoo you are considering is the outside stuff only). You are outside, which is less risky than being indoors with people for any significant length of time. Especially if you have a mask if there are more people around in a certain parts and you watch your distance (and of course hand washing as usual). You can also go right when they open and there will likely be less people. We didn't leave where we live for about two months and one of our first excursions was to a zoo-ish place (has a part to drive through in your car and an area to walk through). We had to get a car battery, so decided to add on something fun. We went when they opened and there weren't a lot of people and it was nice to do something that felt "normal".

You have to get tickets in advance, and I did get them for the opening. We also have to wear masks here and the zoo is specifically requiring them as well. It is something for kids, obviously, they have had no excursions since March 13th when we went into lockdown. I did buy some extra hand sanitizer today and would carry that with me. Thank you for your thoughts, it does make me feel better!

I just booked a place in the mountains, about 2 hours from me.
I will open the windows and clean all the surfaces when we get there and maybe even wash the bedding or bring our own.
We will bring most if our own food.
We are also planning on renting a boat and again, i will clean the surfaces when we get on

We rented a house on a lake in the Adirondacks, which was planned about 10 months ago. The rental company is doing a deep clean in bewteen renters, but we will still be sanitizing all surfaces and bringing our own blankets, sheets and pillows. We plan on bringing all of our food and spending the weeking lounging on the dock, kayaking, paddleboarding and hiking.

We're not doing anything crazy, but we are hoping to drive to Vegas soon to see my brother's family. We will only be stopping to sleep once, and no other fun stops along the way, just potty breaks. I'm prepared for those with Lysol and my own TP and soap. When there, the only things out that we will be doing will be hiking, or maybe hanging at the lake. We may go out to eat, but only once or twice once there.
This is our third attempt at this trip, so we will see what happens.
We have canceled our Maui trip for September. I still have a scrappy weekend trip planned for the end of October, but that's really still all up in the air.

We have a trip planned for the first week of September to Orange Beach/Gulf Shores Alabama. That time of the year is considered off-season and is way less crowded than the summer. We would be driving there & staying in our condo. Likely cooking most of our own food and not going to restaurants or bars. So far, the trip is still on.

We are testing enough in BC. We have just gotten our numbers under control. The key is contact tracing. Testing if you're asymptomatic doesn't necessarily mean much because the results aren't reliable. You could well have a bunch of false negatives in Alberta if they're just randomly testing people.
