vacation also.
I've spent the last 3 days cleaning, gathering items, grocery shopping, organizing and cooking. Because the house must be clean for my arrival home and for the dog sitter we have coming over. The clothes must all be washed, along with bedding and items we take camping. I need to have an organized camper because there is no room for it, unless it's in it's given place. And I have to cook for the dog sitter who had a stroke and can't drive.
DH doesn't really get it. He can't figure out why vacation is exhausting. All he does is throw his stuff in bags. I mean he does more. He gets the camper and the motorcycles ready and stuff like that. But he's a live by the seat of his pants guy and I am the planner, must pack for every possibility girl. We're a match made in heaven! lol
I'm tired. And it's too early for bed/to late for a nap.

And THAT, my dear, is why I don't camp. I'll stick with a nice hotel, thanks.
I hope you have a lovely vacation, Shevy.

Camping is just not a vacation for me.
I don't camp. But we take 1 vacation a year where I provide the food for the week, and it is much less of a relaxing vacation then any other one we take. Luckily, my dh helps a lot. On this one vacation, I always have a cleaner Into my house while we're away so I come home to a nice clean treat.

I'm the same way when preparing for a vacation. I get so stressed out packing (don't want to forget something) and also want to come home to a clean home.
I would also be cleaning like a freak if I had someone coming over. You have the extra burden of cooking for someone that is coming over to dog sit. Wow - that's a lot on your plate!

Here I was feeling lazy for just sitting here peaing while my pre-vacation laundry tumbles. You have way more prep to do than I do! I hate getting ready for a trip, I really do.

I just need a vacation. Any vacation where I don't have to work. After more than a year of 12+ hr days, I need any vacation (heck, I'd settle for just being able to clean my house!)
But, yes, camping, much as I love it, always requires so much work before and after. Enjoy your trip
ETA - Can't you get your Dh to clean the house, cook for the dog sitter, or help with other preparations?

Camping is pretty fun, once we get there. DH pulls a Time Out Camper behind his Road King and I follow on my bike in my signature photo. We have a small bag ontop of the closed camper and the inside of the camper for all our things. So it's definitely no frills camping. The place this time is no water/no electricity. It's pretty freeing not to worry about your hair for 5 days. Dh does help if I ask him. But he's working on contract from home and I'd on call from 6am to 9pm. He fixes computers and is on call to remote into client computers when they call. He would help, but after 5-10 minuted always ended up on a call for an hour or so.
