My parents have them, and they live in the country, in Kansas--- so PLENTY of wind. I don't even notice the chimes when I'm visiting.
But I'm not sure I want to have them where I live.
ETA: I'm moving to the country, where no one else would hear them.

They are a heck NO from me. I can't stand the sound, and I'm really glad none of my neighbors have them.

They're a nope for me. I don't find clanging metal to be a soothing sound

I have some one my covered patio so they are not right out in the open to really have them clanging from the wind, so a few chimes here and there, but I don't think I could stand it if they were constantly clanging.

My parents had some. They're fine. I don't know if I would want them at my house.
When our neighbors had them they did not bother me

I really like those with the deeper tones. But I live very close to my neighbors so I won’t buy any. Mom put some up when we first moved here (or we out some up for her? I don’t remember) because she is the one that uses our back porch when she visits and we never really noticed them. But realized after a while it was rude of us to hang them.

I love them but I have too many neighbours who may not.

If you’re ok with your neighbors hating you because you’re a dick who doesn’t care about disturbing the quiet of the neighborhood, then sure, get some wind chimes.
If you’re a considerate human being who doesn’t want to subject others to painful noise all day, then no.

Big yay!!
I love them, but don't have them here because others in my household don't like them.

I vote NO, especially if you have neighbors who are close. We are in the middle of a city with smallish lots, so I would hate for someone to have them near me. The traffic noise is bad enough.

I love really pleasant-sounding chimes, like wood or glass, but my neighbors are too close and I don’t want to be that person.

I love them, but I don't have them because of maryannscraps response and I know others feel the same way.

yes. WITH CONDITIONS, lol!!
1) Tone: The ones we have are large, and deeper- they sound like church bells ringing. I do not like the high-pitched, 'tinkly' ones, and would NEVER have one like that.
2) NOT when it's TOO windy!! We 'turn ours off' by tying a large piece of fabric around them when it's really windy, or by bringing them inside the house.
eta: the 'clanger' in ours is wood, and like I said, they're deeper... so they're subtle. And I would hope our neighbors would say something if they absolutely couldn't stand the noise. We don't complain about their backyard parties or their yapping dogs, though, so I think we all make some concessions for living in town instead of on our own 10 acres.

No!! Not if you have close neighbors. They are totally annoying IMO.

My mom has a gorgeous very expensive set of chimes and they are beautiful, but she said sometimes she gets tired of them. I like them but hers are large and melodious and I'm sure I would not like my neighbors to have them. I'm going to vote no because I despise listening to sounds I cant stop like a neighbors chimes

I live on 4 acres (which a small lot - my neighbours have 10, 12, 15+ acres) and the outer 2 acres of our lot are woods. I don't have windchimes at the moment but I doubt they would bother anyone if I did. I have no idea if any neighbours have them.
I do like the sound of some windchimes but I wouldn't hang them if I lived in flats or a semi-detached (duplex) or even just with really close neighbours because I know they are a love it or hate it sort of thing

If my house was away from everyone else (like a 1/2 acre per house, so not necessarily out in the middle of nowhere, but out far enough to be considered country) and it was a nice quite'ish kind.. okay..
Not in my Colorado suburb.

We have a bamboo set and the chiming is quiet enough that I don’t hear them unless I am out on the deck. I could take them or leave them. I’m not a fan of metal ones.

I don't mind indoor chimes that only sound if an occasional breeze comes through the window.

We have a TON of acreage. My yard itself is well over 2 acres, maintained. I like chimes, but I like them "far off" if you know what I mean. I have a deep tone set hanging on the other side of our pond and it's just far enough away that I find them relaxing. They add to the atmosphere.

I'm going to say no. Although I do like the deep sound the large wooden ones can make. But, in general, it's just annoying.
We buried my MIL a week ago. Someone had hung wind chimes at a graveside just across the path from MIL's grave. It was a windy day. The brief graveside service was continuously punctuated by the high pitched clang of metal on metal. By the end I was ready to tear the post from the ground. That was just for an hour. If I had to hear that coming from my neighbor's house every time the wind blew, well, eventually I'm sure the authorities would be involved.

But I'm not sure I want to have them where I live. If you're not sure I wouldn't bother, especially if they are only going to be heard by you or your visitors and not any neighbors. I don't mind wind chimes, but if I wanted a soothing sound outside I would look at a water feature.
