First up, I'm really sorry if this question has already been asked and answered one hundred times before. I started searching for a similar thread but gave up after about 10 minutes.
My question is, for those of you who do Project Life, what day of the week do you start each week?
Keep in mind that I run my weeks Monday to Sunday, NOT Sunday to Saturday. I absolutely MUST keep the weekend days together.
The year 2020 started on a Wednesday. I need to decide which of these two ways to do it:
Week 1 = Wednesday 1st to Sunday 5th January (short week) Week 2 = Monday 6th to Sunday 12th January Week 3 = Monday 13th to Sunday 19th January And then finish the year with a short week Monday 28th to Thursday 31st December
or
Week 1 = Wednesday 1st to Tuesday 7th January Week 2 = Wednesday 8th to Tuesday 14th January Week 3 = Wednesday 15th to Tuesday 21st January And then the last week would have an extra two days, Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st December
I am leaning towards the first option, which is what I did for 2019, which started on a Tuesday.
I ask myself the same darn question every year. I don't know why I don't just make a decision and stick to it!

I do mine by month and even that is just generally chronological within the month.
Do what ever works/makes sense for you.

I've done mine as Wed 1st to Sun 5th for week one, then Mon to Sun for all the other weeks.

I order my photos on Friday evening / Saturday morning, so my weeks run start Saturday and end on Friday. I did a short week for the first week of 2020. I don't always do a short week, sometimes I'll combine it with the final / first week and have a longer week. I just do what works for me that week.

I did a short week for the start of 2020. That's the one place where I don't like to mix up one year into the next. I do Sunday-Saturday but debated trying to start on a Monday but have never made the switch. After 7 years, I'm a lot less fussy now if a photo from the week before goes into the next week due to space or whatever.

I do a PL-style album, but I do a monthly event-driven album. I start each month with whatever day I have a photo for, in chronological order. I use BH 12x12 albums and style “A” page protectors. I usually can fit a year into one album.
If I were doing weekly, I would likely do a short first week of the year starting on whatever day the first falls on, then resume with a Sunday through Saturday pattern for the rest of the year.

I don't do PL but I suspect I would probably overlap year to year and keep the Mon-Sun format regardless of when the 1st fell.

I do a version of monthly and chronologically. Meaning I'm all over the place and basically just use the divided protectors and cards to scrapbook as my photos dictate. My kids are older and there is no reason to document our daily/weekly life in a strict format.

I start Sunday through Saturday.
My first week was the 1st through the 4th (short week).

I started my year on the 1st and ended on Saturday the 4th (I run Sunday-Saturday) so if I were you I would run the Sunday the 5th.

I do mine Mon-Sun, and have the first week as a short week (your option 1).

I always did Mon-Sunday and usually had the week of New Year's as the short week because there’s usually more going in that week in terms of resolutions, events, photos from celebrations, goals and plans, etc so it always filled the week-space even if there were only a few days. But do whatever makes sense to you - IMO no one else really notices the exact dates or how you set it up!

Thanks for your input everyone! I'm going to stick with my normal Monday to Sunday, and have a shorter week for week 1. I do a version of monthly and chronologically. Meaning I'm all over the place and basically just use the divided protectors and cards to scrapbook as my photos dictate. My kids are older and there is no reason to document our daily/weekly life in a strict format. I think this is what I will probably end up doing at some point. It will make it much easier, especially for those weeks when I have only a couple of photos, and those when I have way too many for a two page weekly spread. Hmmm, maybe I should start doing it like that now - especially because I don't have many photos from the last two months, being stuck at home all the time.

When I do weekly, I start on Monday. If the year starts late in the week I lump it into the following week. Same at the end of the year. It works out one way or the other with week 1 or 52 being short or long.

I do mine by month and even that is just generally chronological within the month. Do what ever works/makes sense for you. This is how I’m doing 2020 (and 2019 catchup). In prior years I did a strict Monday to Sunday week. In your two scenarios from the OP, I’d have picked the first option - week 1 being a short week, last week if the year being short too. Whenever I get a little uptight about these sorts of details I remind myself to not overthink it. In 5, 10, 15 years you won’t even notice such tiny “discrepancies”. You’ll just be so so glad you got the memories recorded.
