Need feedback PLEASE!! The area we are moving too is very rural and it looks like these are my 2 options-I know nothing about either one or how satellite internet even works. Sounds like there is a limit to how much we can use it, 20g (I think) a month 10 anytime and 10 off peak. I don't know if this is a lot or not. Basically we will use it for Facebook, here, email, shopping and my husband's dog website.
I appreciate all the help I can get!!!

We used to have it and HATED it. We would reach our limit in a day. Of course we're gamers so we use a lot of data but still we switched to dsl through Verizon and it's much much better. Oh and HughesNet went out every single time it rained or snowed here. It was horrible.

I hope you are not planning on using it to actually host a site. It's really too slow for that. My sister has it and it's not all the zippy, that's for sure. When I go to her house I always hope that I don't need to do a big download while I'm working on their computers, because it can be painful.

I am not sure. He has a domain name through a web site and we upload pictures and info about the dogs to it. I guess if it is too slow or uses too much data we will have to figure something else out. I am pretty sure that these are out only 2 options.

Another satellite internet provider is Wild Blue. I had HughesNet and it is "throttled" for 24 hours if you go over your plan limits. Just choose a plan that has higher limits and you should be OK unless you are streaming videos, etc. When it's the only option, you are somewhat stuck. Rural living isn't always all it's cracked up to be, is it?

My dh used to work for Hughes so we got everything for free. It was crap internet service and he would never advise anyone to use/buy it. When we had it for free, we still paid for something else that was actually useful.

I used it for years and it is awful. Horrible speed and service, horrible customer service and very expensive for the sloooooooooow and limited access you receive. That daily limit really creeps up on you before you realize it too.

I am pretty sure that these are out only 2 options. You can get cheap hosting from a lot of places. Hosting elsewhere is more secure anyway. Satellite Internet is a step above dial-up, but if it's your only choice, then that's what you have to go with.

Yep I guess that is what we are stuck with. I am beginning to think living in the boonies is not going to be for me.

I have Hughes Net and hate it but it is our only option. Yes we live in the boonies, too.
