I have an original cuttlebug and it finally stopped cutting properly. I don't think you can get replacement plates for it anyway. I have some electronic cutters, but would like a new manual one.
What manual cutter is your favorite and why?

My Cuttlebug started cutting poorly in spots last fall. I had always planned on buying a big shot but I won’t buy anything from them so I decided on a Platinum 6 from Spellbinders. I have been pleased with it. It cuts great! The cutting plates are a bit thinner than the Cuttlebug so they do need to be replaced more often, but it isn’t too bad. Watch for sales! I think I bought mine on Black Friday from Scrapbook.com but the first weekend in May is National scrapbooking day so that might be a good time for sales. Good luck!

I switched to a Gemini junior and love it - no more handle cranking

I replaced my CB with the Spellbinders Platinum 6. I love it. I have the regular white/gold one. But here is a link to the Spellbinders website for the FSJ one that is on sale for $70. A good price IMO. ETA: I bought white/gold at Michael's with a coupon.

I live in fear of the days I have to say "My Cuttlebug died".
I love that little thing so much.
Can I ask, what happened that killed it?

I broke my Cuttlebug last December during card making - I knocked it over and broke off the handle. I replaced it with the Platinum 6 from Spellbinders and it is WONDERFUL! It is easier to crank the handle and the plates go through so smoothly. No CRACK! like the Cuttlebug often did. Highly recommend.

My Cuttlebug is so darn old and I have had my Big Shot for a long time too. I hope mine hang in there. At this point, I don't want to buy new machines.

My CB went to CB heaven last year. I wanted something similar to CB because you know it was the perfect cutter, lol.
I went with the Spellbinder's Platinum 6. I have the Jane Davenport version because mermaids are everything, lol.
I am really happy with my cutter. I do use my Cuttlebug C plate as the base plate. I like it better. My cutter was too tight when I first got it. I don't want that to sway your decision. All cutters are going to be configured differently. I know some girls who their Spellbinder's cutter was to loose and others were just right, lol. You know the CB was like that to.
Save your C plate with your old Cuttlebug. I use Sizzix plates with my Platinum 6. I don't even bother with Spellbinder's plates. I use the Sizzix plates for my steel rule. I use self healing mats with my thin rule dies.
You are not locked into using specific plates. Spellbinder's plates are a bit expensive.
HTH!
