Are you using a pot roast? They are a tougher meat with some fat. It takes a long time to cook to make the meat fall apart and the fat helps create the juice.
I guess if you are having trouble with dryness, add a bit of water, maybe an inch along the bottom. All crockpots cook differently.

Pork roast with carrots. No real recipe, just add my preferred seasonings, which includes rosemary. Question for those who cook roasts in the crockpot. How do you usually cook yours, please? I tend to cook mine on high for 5 hours, but even though it is really good, it is a little dry. Is there a way for it to be fully cooked but juicier? Should I cook it part of the time on low? If so, for how long? Thanks! I don't know about your crockpot, but mine is as old as the hills and has 2 settings: low & high. I find no matter how short a time I cook, high just dries things out. Try it on low for the 4-6 or 6-8 or whatever hours the recipe suggests. That seems to work better for me. As for our house, I am making fajitas in mine as we speak. I love my crock pot! It is our favorite thing to cook in, have not used my oven for months!!! My cousin made a pork (can be done using chicken) just a roast with a few cans of chilies tossed in and it makes the most flavorful pork that can be used for sandwiches, over rices, in burritos or tacos! I'm going to have to try that! I never think to check the recipes board! I need to scoot on over there! And I'm bookmarking this thread!

I made potato soup on Sunday, but it tasted funny. It was a really simple recipe, onions, chicken broth, potatoes and salt and pepper, then blend with an immersion blender and add a little half-and half. It had a really chemically taste that was just gross. So, that's my fail for the week!

I made a chicken and stuffing recipe yesterday that I found on Pinterest. One of those stupid easy kind with chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream and Stove Top cornbread stuffing mix. It was okay and I'd make it again in a pinch but would tweak it some, especially shorten the cook time. Chicken was too dry but otherwise tasty.

Ok someone share how you make ribs in the crockpot. I have NEVER been able to make good ribs in any form or fashion. This is the recipe I use: m.allrecipes.com/recipe/22230/slow-cooker-barbecue-ribs/Not sure the link will work because I'm on my phone, but it's Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs at allrecipes.com. Always a huge hit with my family and friends. My BIL says he's going to quit BBQing ribs and just use my recipe. Note, I don't use her sauce recipe. I make my own combination of BBQ sauce and ketchup or chili sauce. That's not important ... I think what matters is the browning and then slow cooking. Oh, I don't slow cook as long as she says, either. Ribs are falling off the bone before that point. ETA now that I'm home, here is the "regular" link: Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

At lunch yesterday, I threw 2 chicken breasts in with some salt, pepper, cumin and garlic with half of can of salsa verde and use that for chicken enchiladas last night. So good!! I will have Boilermaker chili in mine tomorrow for a chili cook-off at church.
I don't use mine enough. I really want to try the ribs in there.
Thanks for this post!

And if I can do it, anyone can do it I got a recipe from Pinterest, but it's just apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, a little lemon juice and some water. Let it cook for awhile (I think I did like 8hrs on low), then blend it up with an immersion blender, or food processor. Easy peasy.

DS just requested I make more applesauce, I made some Friday and it's long gone! I can make apple sauce in m crockpot?!? Oh yes, and it's delicious! We make pints and pints each season. We usually get a mix of Gala, Empire, and Golden Delicious apples and also pick up a gallon or two of fresh apple cider from the orchard where we get our apples. My recipe is a simple one and the apples are usually sweet enough so I don't have to add sugar - if needed, I add a little brown sugar to taste: 10-14 apples (depending on size) 1 T lemon juice 1 tsp cinnamon 1/3 cup apple cider 1 tsp vanilla Peel, core, and slice apples, add remaining ingredients and cook on high for 3-4 hours. Use an immersion blender to reach the consistency you prefer and enjoy!

I'm making Chicken and noodles tonight. I'll also make mashed potatoes and put them in a smaller crock pot to keep warm. Then I'll take the crackpots to our daughter's house so they can eat after DGS's hockey. Ill keep some for DH and I for our dinner - two family meals cooked at once. Love my crock pot! I enjoyed your typo in this I made a Mississippi Roast, a family favorite, and tomorrow I'll make chicken tortilla soup.

Supposedly, it is going to be cooling off around here tomorrow. It was warm and just gorgeous today. I'm making a chicken vegetable soup in the crock pot. I'll serve it over rice and we'll have some nice crusty bread of some sort. I haven't had my crock pot out in a few months. It's time...it's Autumn after all. I really enjoy reading the recipes you ladies include with the crock pot thread...Yum!

This looks super yummy....how was it? Did you/would you change anything? Don't use diet coke...has to be regular coke. I didn't have regular one time and it tasted totally different. Also marinate overnight if possible. Our favorite way to eat it is in tortillas or just out of a bowl. We rarely put it over rice like the website suggests.
