If you're in a financial position to make charitable donations, what kind of organizations are you supporting? We've made extra donations to the local food bank and the local children's hospital.

I live near our food bank and that’s the only place we’re giving to right now. The need is beyond anything we’ve ever seen; the line stretched five miles a few weeks ago in the middle of a freak hail storm and those people didn’t move because they needed food so bad.

We have given to the local food bank. The lines are unprecedented. I have volunteered there in the past. We were to attend a play that was cancelled. We donated the ticket costs back to the theater company instead of a refund.

I also donated the refund of theater tickets back to the arts center. I've given to our local food bank and our local Meals on Wheels program. Since I work for a non-profit I know the importance of giving locally so the dollars help my community instead of being diluted on the way from the major organization to the locals.

The food bank has been my charity of choice lately.
On the spur of the moment I stopped the car and gave $40 to this man who walks our main drag with a shopping cart every day. I have known Rufus for years as he used to come into the jewelry store where I worked to sell his art work to my boss when he needed a little cash. He's well-known in town and had regular stops like that he made where people know him and took care of him. When I saw him yesterday, it dawned on me that many of his stops have been closed for weeks and weeks now. He was appreciative but true to his nature, he couldn't let me go without a trade. He didn't have any drawings, but he gave me John Deere book. I have no idea why he had that book, but it's on my kitchen counter now. I'll pass it along to a little boy I know who is obsessed with tractors. Rufus would like that.

Friends are in Bolivia. They are on strict lockdown. (One person is allowed out to shop once per week. My friends walk approx 8 miles round trip with a week’s worth of groceries.) The poor there work today to buy food tomorrow. Even if they were able to stockpile food, they have no refrigeration. Me and my kids, along with I’m guessing many others, have been donating to them. They have a contact who is able to use the $ to buy and deliver food.
They said last week, “So far we have purchased food for over 500 people. We bought two weeks and deliver it one week at a time since they cannot store it. We have money for two more weeks on hand! We have also purchased food for various ministries to help the poor in their area! GOD IS AT WORK!”
I shared on Facebook. Awesomely one of my friends with an Etsy shop did a fundraiser and was able to raise a few hundred $ to send too!

I paid $300+ in postage to mail boxes of shirts, boots, pants and school supplies to the Pine Ridge Reservation. I got each item for $1 from Walmart, so I only spent about $150 on the items.
I have a local thrift shop I frequent and I will be donating all my boutique summer clothes from last year since I lost about 30 lbs from last summer. I was going to try to sell them to Clothes Mentor or someplace but really someone might enjoy a deal on some new and barely worn nice clothes.
Other than that I have to support my unemployed DS2, which includes his rent and lease breaking penalties and his unpaid taxes. He is my charity for the next few months at least.

We have donated to:
Food bank
Group providing supplies to homeless students Another group that provides weekly grocery bag to families
A different charity to help food insecure families
Charity set up by one of the parents of a student in my class. Sending toys and activities to children in the hospital.
Our MD zoo that is #closedbutstillcaring for animals. A bench in memory of my daughter is there as is the penguin she named before she passed away.
We also typically do $25-$30 tips for any restaurant when we do takeout. (Just once a week to smaller independent restaurants we love)

I gave extra $ to the food bank last month and again yesterday.
There was a big drive to get people to support charities yesterday in our city. "Giving Tuesday"
Last night DH asked if he could still give to that drive, and when I told him he had until midnight--he then said he wanted to give 1/3 of his stimulus money to Planned Parenthood. I was stunned. He said, "I've been sitting here today thinking about how funding has been cut to help women get their health care and I want to do that." So, we did. Today, the local director called him and thanked him.

I have a monthly donation going to our local food bank. I also donated to our local senior citizens group. I’ve donated to a couple of Go-Fund-Me’s for younger parents who have died of Coronavirus and left behind children. I also donated to the family of the security guard who was killed at the dollar store when he denied entrance to a woman who refused to wear a mask.
We divided most of our stimulus payment and my children were able to donate it to a charity of their individual choice. One was the local YMCA, one was to a local LGBTQ youth center/shelter, one was the National Center for Missing/Exploited Children, and the last was to the Humane Society.

If you're in a financial position to make charitable donations, what kind of organizations are you supporting? We've made extra donations to the local food bank and the local children's hospital. Pretty much any organization that's feeding people (locally). A lot of it is actually grassroots efforts - small restaurants or groups of people delivering food to homebound seniors that set up GoFundMes to keep going. Also our homeless organization that partnered with the city to house people in hotels and bring food to the rooms.

We donated to a local food bank, and to a group that helps homeless people - since shelters have had to cut down on the number of people they can admit.

I’ve been making masks and trading them with my neighbors for food donations. I’ve taken 4 car loads to the local food pantry in the past few weeks.

A local no kill animal shelter and an area food bank. I’ve also bought groceries for my DBF’s mom when needed.

We donated food/toiletries to a church food bank in our area. We also donated to our child's dance studio as she wasn't able to get a small business payment (whatever some small businesses get, I forget what it is called).
