If you took a break from scrapbooking, what trends are you sad you missed?
I missed out on a lot of trends from 2011 to 2016 when scrapbooking wasn't in the budget, but I only regret not getting boarder punches when they were more prevelant.

I miss doing it. Crazy to say. I'm jumping back in next week to do week in the life. (I think). Not really sure about trends. Though I have missed the cool paper from Pinkfresh and embellishments and all my favorite things to use. But the idea is back into my head (my heart???), and I'm going to give it a try. That's the best I can do for now.

Don’t feel too bad. The border punches were sometimes a pain. No matter how careful you were, it was all too easy to ruin your paper and have to start over. They are better for cards than for scrapbooking IMO.
After living in the same home for 33+ years, we renovated, put our house on the market, sold it, and moved halfway across the country. I didn’t scrapbook much from 2016 to now. For at least a year or more of that time, all my scrapping supplies were boxed up, until I was finally able to set up my craft room and unpack everything in my new home. I still kept an eye on what was happening in the scrapbook world, though, even when I wasn’t scrapping. I didn’t see any trends that I loved or felt that I was missing. Maybe if I had, I would have jumped back into it sooner.

I have never taken a break except for having no crops the last 2 months. I have not gotten into many trends and one I feel I have missed is becoming proficient with die cutting machines. I bought an original sillouette but never got into it the way I want to.
I also never have become skilled at photo shop and photo editing, as well as digital scrapbooking.
Stamping and card making I have never gotten into either.

I don't remember specific collections that I missed but I do remember feeling that way after taking a break from scrapping for a few years. When I got back into it washi had become popular and I just didn't get why. The transparency of it didn't appeal to me. It still doesn't very much. I probably only have about 10 and don't use them very often. Probably more often since I started putting it on white cardstock and cutting the strips off.

I wasn't scrapping much yet when Hambly transparencies were big (2007 or so, I think?). I think I have one scrap of one left and wish I had thought to stock up.
I couldn't afford to subscribe to the Studio Calico kits when they first came out and were really good, and by the time I could afford a sub they had started to really deteriorate.
I only have a bit of early October Afternoon left as well. The quality was so good, I wish I had bought more.
Overall, I feel like I was 'late' to scrapbooking and really missed the heyday when there were so many LSS's and different kinds of products (I loved 7gypsies!). Now, everything looks the same to me.

I haven't taken a break from scrapbooking, but have--very occassionally--taken a break from buying sb supplies. I have tons of Fall and Christmas papers and stickers and everything that goes with them, but there are still a couple of BoBunny autumn lines I wish I would have snapped up when they were still available. And some Christmas lines that I sigh about when I see something on Pinterest that was created with them. There is a floral edging die I passed up on when it was everywhere, and now I have seen it used I wish I had grabbed that one, too.
The craft industry, like Costco, is set up to reel in us hoarders--ummm, collectors--by offering each collection for such a short time. If we don't get it then we run the risk of --gasp!--NEVER getting it.
I can scrap without those things of course, and I do, using the stuff that DID make it into my craft room. I just remember those that "got away"...

I never really took a break from scrapbooking. It just changed and evolved. For the longest time I didn't know about communities, magazines for scrapbooking. I didn't know anything about trends. What is funny some of the trends now was what I was doing twenty years ago, lol. Belly laugh for some scrapbookers over this admission-
I regret not getting a whole set of Coluzzle. I love the Coluzzle.
I actually missed the deco scissors craze. I love my deco scissors. My scissors are always close to me. I have some elegant deco scissors skills. I don't know why they are so evil, lol.
I missed the template craze. I think I would have really enjoyed the templates.

Hi, I have not been on this board for years! Normally I'm on the NSBR board. I pretty much stopped scrapping about 10 years ago when I just got too busy. Even so, I occasionally catch Tim Holtz when he's demoing something and Teresa Collins when she posts something. But the past couple of weeks, she's been doing live workshops and I've had fun playing along. Of course, I didn't have any of her papers so I grabbed a set of papers to use and it was the Basic Gray's Motifica papers. For the first time in so many years, I actually bought something, her flower die and her clear papers.
ETA: I've been using planners since the 80s but only in the last 5 that I started decorating them. It's my mini scrapping, lol.

I did a scrapbook for my wedding in 2003. I had no idea there was a whole scrappy community. I wish I had found it. I made that one album and that was pretty much it until I discovered Project Life in late 2012. I took the plunge in 2013 and have been scrapbooking ever since. I really wish I had not missed out on those 10 years of documenting. No to mention all the cool companies that have come and gone. I can remember when my town had 3 LSS stores. Now there's none.

I go through phases with scrapbooking. I have to be in a good, happy place in order to enjoy this hobby. Not a trend, but I wish I'd kept up with my photo printing. Also putting the photos in divided page protectors and making a note of at least the date and names of things I might forget. If I don't get to the decorating part, that's okay. The who, what, where, and when will at least be noted.

I've never taken a long break from scrapbooking....other than a month or two when life gets crazy busy or I'm not feeling creative during that shorter period of time.
I've never taken a break from buying scrapbook products.
I am not a follower of trends. I buy what I like. I use what I like.
The only thing I feel I've "missed" out on, is not having a big stash of a brand, if they gone out of business. Like Daisy D's, Rusty Pickle and Creative Imaginations(and other favorite brands). I would have purchased multiple of everything, had I known they were going to close.

I took a long break, but it was fun when I came back, because of the new stuff and ideas and ways of doing things. I took another long break more recently, and there really wasn't as much new, even though it had been almost over a year. :/ But no regrets either time!

I regret not buying some paper lines. Mine was Sassafrass Lass. I would have bought all my Wish List items from Making Memories. Making Memories was my favorite tool company. When they went under that one hurt my heart.
I lost my paper piecer from them. You can buy one on Ebay for 78cents. It's a polymer clay piercer. It wasn't the Making Memories one. I was attached to it. Last year I find my piercer in my DH's garage. I don't know how it got there. I have a feeling though, lol. I was so happy. I hugged it, lol. So sad, it's probably the same piercers that are on Ebay, lol.

I don't think I've ever missed a trend. If you look at my scrapbook pages you can probably tell what year they are done by which trend I used.

I don't think I've taken a break, but I have had lulls when I just didn't have a lot of time. If I finished 24 pages in a year, it was a good year.
My issue back then was I bought the items, even though I didn't have time. Then when I had time, I didn't really like the older items. I wanted the new shiny ones.
